Man On Fire SE

According to http://www.thedigitalbits.com ....

Also, those of you who enjoyed Tony Scott's recent Man on Fire, but felt that the movie-only DVD release was a little lackluster (containing only a commentary) can rest easy. We've learned that a much more elaborate special edition is on the way from 20th Century Fox early next year. We'll give you all the details as soon as they come in.
I loved the movie. I will double dip on this one!

Nice of FOX to let us know before some of us bought the barebones disc...-rolleyes-

thank god I didn't..

AnonomusBob15 09-23-04 09:48 PM

Bummer.

This had "special edition" written all over it before it ever was announced on DVD. Anybody who bought the barebones version thinking that was it get no sympathy from me. I figured a newer edition of this would be a no brainer.

I'll stick with my barebones. Video and audio quality is pretty good.

I dont know if they did this is the USA or not, but i bought Man of Fire from a FutureShop here in Canada, and you get another disk in the DVD, containing all sort of featurettes and what not.

Technically its only a single-disc DVD, but really what i got here is a 2disc version pretty much.

Rammsteinfan 09-24-04 01:07 AM

I think i would skip a re-release unless it has lots of extras. The commentaries were good and the second disc making of was nice for free.

Glad I waited, they should of told people.....its all about greed with the studios.

Nagheenanajar 09-24-04 08:24 AM

I bought this, but I did figure on Fox coming out with an SE down the line. I'm not too sure if I would double-dip. It would all depend on the extras and knowing Tony Scott's disc I don't think they would add too much. Who knows, I'll if and when it is announced I'll weigh my options.

On another note, I'm really getting pissed at Fox lately. They are becoming Columbia minus the superbits. I want to buy I, Robot and Day After Tomorrow, but I absolutely know Fox is going to double-dip those. I just hope it doesn't take too long.

I didn't pick up the first release. Will go for this one.

TylerDurden_73 09-24-04 11:43 AM

I already wait patiently for Columbia SE/superbits, I'll just wait with fox also. Sucks though...
