New Twilight Zone?
I just picked up the New twilight Zone DVD & was surprised at the episode list. I thought, when buying this, that this was the series that aired in 1985-1986. However, I guess there was a series that aired in 2000, for only 1 year, because that is what the new dvd is. I was hoping it was the 1985 series. I loved an episode called the Shadow Man, & was hooked since. I haven't watched the dvd yet. I am sure I will enjoy it, but I am dissapointed it is not what I thought. Does anyone have any info on the 1985 series & its availablity?

I'm waiting for the new twilight zone also from the mid 80's. The Mondo Digital List has had a release date for season one and seasons 2/3 on their list for some time although the date keeps changing. I really hope we can see at least season 1 by the end of this year:
Mondo Digital - Upcoming Releases Hope this helps. Michael |
Mondo Digital says Season 1 of the 80's series will be out in December, and Seasons 2 & 3 will be out a month earlier, on November 2nd. Something tells me that's not right. ;) According to TVShowsOnDVD.com, Season 1 will be out on 12/28 of this year, and the set with Seasons 2 & 3 will be out three months later, on 3/29/05.

Incidentally, here's the release schedule for the 1959-1964 series:
Season 1 - 12/28/2004 Season 2 - 3/29/2005 Season 3 - 6/28/2005 Season 4 - 10/18/2005 Season 5 - 12/27/2005 from here Rob |
With the 1980s set, will that be the full version that was aired on CBS or will it be the edited version that was put into syndication?
The Danny Kaye episode was severely cut for the syndication release. Austin |

The Danny Kaye episode was severely cut for the syndication release. Austin If Night Gallery, a show that's suffered from syndication butchery, can be released uncut on DVD by Universal, then Image, a company with great respect for its TV product, will likely do the same for TZ. I can't watch the UPN TZ and I've tried. It's so unremarkable and pedestrian! The 80s TZ may have had its share of clunkers, but it had many memorable episodes in its brief run! |

Were all the 80s versions totally original or were some of them remakes of the original series (like the movie)?
|
Most were original, but there were a few remakes, including "Night of the Meek" with Richard Mulligan, "Dead Woman's Shoes" with Helen Mirren (a remake of "Dead Man's Shoes"), "The After Hours" with Terry Farrell and I think there were a few others.
