Is the star wars trilogy a good start for someone that never watched star wars?
I have not watched a single star wars movie. I don't really know why, I was never really into the previews. But with all this hype about the new trilogy I was thinking if this would be a good place to start. Thanks.

I was sort of like you about 5 or 6 years ago around the hype of The Phantom Menace. I had seen bits and pieces of Star Wars but never really got into em until I got the laserdiscs. Go ahead and buy the dvd box set it'll be money well spent.

Start with the animated Ewoks, then watch Episode II, then the R2-D2 documentary, Return of the Jedi, Troops short film, Droids animated series, A New Hope, THX-1138, Star Wars Christmas Special, the Clone Wars miniseries, ESB, Episode I and finally the Ewok movies.
Thats the official order for Star Wars newbies. |

If you see the big twist and surprises it won't be as fun as the first time, I envy you in some ways, watching this movies for the first time, is something that I will never forget. Lucky you. :-) |
Yes, just watch the original trilogy -- that's where pretty much every star wars fan began. Then move on to the prequels. Despite the fact that prequels are set before the original trilogy, they are full of things that really can't be properly appreciated unless you've seen the original trilogy.

yeah, I would say that it's pretty safe to start with this.
You have an advantage of never having seen these before. So you wont be critical as we will be when we see the changes made to the trilogy. |

NO,no,no,no,no,no,no...................
What are guys talking about? You should start with episode I than episode II, III, IV, V VI The way it was meant to be seen. Don't get confused and watch them in order! If you start by watching them with the Trilogy coming out soon you will spoil great turn of events and you won't enjoy Episode I-III as much. Trust me even the hardest of star wars fans will tell you that! |
Only if you don't mind not seeing them as they were presented in their ORIGINAL theatrical runs.
|
"The Original Trilogy" is a good place to start, and an even better place to end.
|
if you really want the genuine Star Wars experience-
watch the first film of OT set, wait three years; watch the second, wait three years; watch the third. then don't watch anything else for the 22 years. that's the way the filmmaker really intended you to see them. if he thought it was neccessary for you to see the prequels, he would have made them a hell of a lot earlier. |
Watch the Original 3 films before they were destroyed(altered).
Forget the prequels...they are not Star Wars films. |

Ignore the negativity. Watch the trilogy, love it, and then visit the prequels. I think you'll really enjoy what you see. :)
|
and don't read the back of the box since they are likely to have very heavy spoilers (including the endings.
|
Watch them the way most of us have. Star Wars, Empire, Jedi, Phantom and Clones.
Wait until next year when the Sith DVD comes out then watch them in the Phantom, Clones, Sith, Star Wars, Empire, and Jedi order. |
i hope i would like it

No, no, no...Here's what you do.
Watch Star Wars: Ep. IV - A New Hope, then watch Close Encounters of the Third Kind, then after that watch Star Wars: Ep. V - The Empire Strikes Back. Then...you watch Raiders of the Lost Ark. What? Yes..do what I said. After that watch E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial. Finally, well not really...watch Star Wars: Ep. VI - Return of the Jedi. Now then...once you're through with all that, take your time with watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, then Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Then when you got nothing else to do, watch Star Wars: Ep. I - The Phantom Menace and then Star Wars: Ep. II - Attack of the Clones/ Once you're all done with that, you should go on-line and buy a complete Stormtrooper or Clonetrooper uniform and then go to your local theater and stand in line for Star Wars: Ep. III - Revenge of the Sith. Do this immediately after you watch Ep. II. And may the Force be with you. |

I'm not negative, just telling the truth. Watch the Original 3 films before they were destroyed(altered). Forget the prequels...they are not Star Wars films. |
The prequels are just exercises in special effects with horrible script writing and acting. Stick with the first 3.
|
start with ep 4,5,6. Then 1,2,3
|
Can't wait til 9/21 :)
|
I personally think you should watch the OT at home and enjoy the story...
then watch EP1 and EP2 and enjoy your HT... EP1 and EP2 are not as good as OT, but are a total workout for the HT...I enjoy them quite loud! lets say that OT is the main course (filet mignon in port wine and mushroom sauce topped with a peace of Stilton Blue cheese) and EP1 and 2 are the sweet peace of chocolate cake at the end!... |
