24 Season 3--only 6 discs?

I've read news items about the upcoming Dec. release of 24-Season 3 at tvshowsondvd.com and ign.com and both say that the title will be 6 discs--unlike season 2 which was 7 discs for the same # of eps (naturally) and about the same in terms of special features.

With 24 episodes at 4 per disc, that doesn't leave much space on the last disc for all the special features. Does anyone think it will actually be 7 discs? Or do you think they might spread those features across the various discs, like they started doing with Buffy?

They'll probably spread them. I know in Season 2 that they had deleted scenes on each disc that you could branch into the episodes, and then on Disc 7 they had all the deleted scenes from the other discs. Kind of an overlap there.

Season 1 of 24 was only 6 discs as well.

I have yet to purchase Season 2.. how exactly does it have deleted scenes? Wouldn't that mess up the whole real-time format? Or do the deleted scenes take place during the commercial breaks of the original broadcast?

has anyone seen the cover-art for this new set? it's down right awful!

^^ The only way to watch 24 and enjoy it is to pretend the real-time format doesnt exist...hence the deleted scenes can pretty much take place anywhere :)

I know it's an overlap, but I liked having the deleted scenes in one place. The branching scenes are cool, but since there's usually a reason deleted scenes are deleted, I prefered watching them separately on the last disc. But even if they do lose this redudancy, and they do spread them out, what about this: usually on Buffy discs, etc, Fox puts only 3 episodes per disc on which they include special features. That clearly won't work with a 6-disc season of 24. So I just don't know how it's all going to fit. Are there any Fox TV DVDs on which there are 4 full episodes AND featurettes?

As as for season 1 only having 6 discs, the difference there was that there were virtually no special features (aside from an alternate ending). Season 3 is supposed to have a full roster of featurettes like Season 2 did. Plus 5.1 sound.
