I got rich off one of those Nigerian emails I keep getting. All I did was hold some money from a Nigerian prince and he gave me 10% for my trouble.

i had an ulterior motive for joining dvdtalk. where do you think i got most of my stuff? just guess. it's actually from confederated products. almost eveything in my house is from confederated products. from the toilet paper, to the candles, to the ham, the wine. even the dvds in my collection. you see confederated products is a multi-level direct wholesaling company, which means i don't just sell the prodcucts myself - no siree bob - i recruit and manage teams that work under me. now, i started 8 months ago and already and i'm pulling in fifty thousand in revenues. i'm the number 4 distributor in southern california and by march... i might be number 3. *crosses fingers*

I like to thank the quick witted people of this forum for this wonderful thread or htread. It made the 58 hours I spent in an auto manufacturing plant this week seem worthwhile. Off to pre-order some more disc.

On a serious note, the first 100 DVDs or so in my collection were bought using the slightly ethical and less than ethical means available early on in the DVD movement. Included here were the 800.com 3 for 1 cent deal, Reel.com trivia, Amazon gift certificate giveaways, etc. I cleaned up on the Amazon deals. :D
I probably spent less then $20 for my first 100 DVDs, and my average cost was higher than many on this list! |
I beg for tuppence to "feed the birds", but I actually use them for DVDs. Wealthy British children are so gullible!
For your "serious thread" though- I've noticed you post a bit asking people how they afford their home theaters and DVDs. Most of the time the answer to that is they work, save, and have film as their primary hobby (or one of them) so a good chunk of the expendable cash goes that way. No great mystery there! |
Once I was the King of Spain
but now I work at the Pizza-Pizza |

I work for 20th century fox. Needless to say their dvd's are the cheapest for me.

I'm an Operating Room RN for a Big 10 University Hospital. It is a Union shop & I earn $25+ per hour.
I also spend almost all of my entertain $$$$ on DVDs, that explains my 1100+ collection. |

I put my left foot in.
