Free Jack & Bobby Premiere Episode DVD in Entertainment Weekly
Hey guys,
Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up that this week's Entertainment Weekly (with the Apprentice 2 on the cover) contains a free DVD with the first episode of the WB's new show Jack & Bobby. It's in a paper sleeve with disc artwork, but it has no menus, subtitles or captions. It is however in widescreen and simple 2-channel stereo sound. I don't know if this is a subscriber only thing or not, but I'm just giving everyone a heads up. |
When I was a subscriber, these kinds of bonuses only went to subscribers.
|
These kinds of things go to just select subscribers, apparently. I complained to EW earlier this year when I read that some subscribers received the special LOTR issue, and they basically said tough noogies. I would have particularly been interested in this DVD since one of the Jack & Bobby teens used to live in my neighborhood and there isn't a WB affiliate here.
|
I subscribe to EW, and I didn't get this disc.
But it's no big deal; I'm not sure I'd have bothered to watch it anyway. Rob |
same here - no dvd for me and I am a subscriber...
|
Hopefully it's better than the fall trailers disc I got a few weeks ago. It's a great idea, collecting the trailers for the fall season in one place on a DVD. But they loaded it up with constant "time to resubscribe now!" messages, and they only had 4 or 5 trailers for each month.
|
I got it with the issue that came yesterday. Guess it's a random thing?
|
None here either. I've been a subscriber since issue #11 and I never get any freebies.
|
I'm a charter subscriber and received the DVD.
|
I'm a subscriber and I didn't get it...but I did get a How Clean is Your House?(11PM/10C Mondays on Lifetime - Television for Women) air-freshener. Thanks EW!
|
I got the DVD and the how clean thing...i always seem to tear apart my magazine trying to rip those cardboard insert pages out...ugh! Threw the DVD away though as I didn't know what it was, just thought nother promo. Maybe i'll dig it out.

I'm amazed that I got these at all as my mailman likes to mangle / rip / shred anything I get to fit the size of my mailbox. |
I got nothing man...NOTHING! And I'm subscribed through 2008! Where's the love, EW?!
|
I got both clean is your house air freshener and dvd. I feel lucky.
|
I've been getting this magazine for 12-13 years, no DVD here either. :(
|
i received the dvd and i actually watched it. i must say i really enjoyed it, and plan to now give the series a chance. i did throw out the air freshener, was this a mistake?
|
I'm a subscriber and my damn issue didn't show up this week. Wanna bet someone stole it for the DVD? :(

Originally posted by Jackskeleton I got both clean is your house air freshener and dvd. I feel lucky. Edited to say that just like the WB wanted, I'm completely hooked on this show! Love the premise and the story so far and am looking forward to broadcast. So this doesn't need to be moved to the TV forum, the DVD has no menu, no chapters and is 1.78:1 non-anamorphic widescreen. WB plans to broadcast in HD. |
My fiance got both the air freshener and the DVD and she is somehow a subscriber. She never subscribed, she never paid, but she's signed up through January 2006.
|
The DVDs were only sent to the nation's 4 top television markets: NYC, LA, Chicago and Philly. Figures.
|
No love for Boston? :(
Well, then the mystery of my disappering issue remains... |
I've been a subscriber since '91 and I can never understand why I get certain things from them, and not others.
I got a couple of VHS tapes of trailers 3 or 4 years ago, and the "Best of Friends" issue. I've been on the reader panel to take surveys and such for about 2 years, got one CD. JP |
No love for Houston?
Cheap sons of bi... That sucks. |
Got the freshner and the DVD.
Put the freshner right where it belongs over the cat litter box. As for the DVD, I watched a little and found it very boring and too talky. Not my kind of show, but if you like talky dramas then the show may be for you. Also just a note about the title of the show. Jack and Bobby do not apply to Jack & Bobby Kennedy as I thought (And I'm sure some others may have thought), but are the names of the two teenage boys who in the year of 2049 or something, one of them becomes President. Also couldn't stand the people from the "future 2049" talking about the boys in present day. Just talking heads talking, very boring. A show I'm going to skip. |
Good News: The new issue comes with a dvd of Extra's Fall TV Preview.
Bad News: My "How Clean is Your House?" air-freshener has lost its delightful insect repellent-like scent. |
