New 6-disc "Rocky" boxed set in December

Taken from DavisDVD earlier this evening:

"Looking to cash in on NBC's upcoming boxing reality series "The Contender," MGM Home Entertainment will re-release the Rocky collection yet again with newly updated features. Due on December 14th is The Rocky Anthology collection, a six-disc set featuring digitally remastered anamorphic transfers (from hi-def) and Dolby Digital 5.1 remixes (except Rocky V). The first film will also include a new DTS Surround track. Extras will include cast and director commentaries, deleted footage and a sixth bonus disc with A&E's Biography episode "Sylvester Stallone: The Rocky Road to the Top." Retail will be $62.96."

Sounds pretty sweet, but I hope they'll be available seperately!

Well I will be paying attention to the reviews on this. It'd better be top-notch for me to upgrade.

I might get it depending on the price. I wanted to purchase the previous box set, but the lack of anamorphic transfers for II and IV and missing subtitles on IV caused me to just pick up the first film.

I just bought Rocky I and was planning on buying them all separately over the next month or two. I'm glad I waited, and I'm only out 10 bucks!

I'm happy to hear this!

Coincidentally I wanted to pick this up at Best Buy this week with a gift card, but it seems they no longer have available (only VHS is for sale on their website).

I can definitely wait another few months!

Extras will include cast and director commentaries, deleted footage
For all of them? If so I'm definitely upgrading!

You all don't know how ironic this is...

Ever since I started buying DVDs in late 2001, my friend and I have had this inside joke, sort of, in that everytime that I get a paycheck or whatnot, he says, "Great, now you can get the Rocky set!" Of course, he's referring to the old one. And my reasoning for not ever getting it is the lack of anamorphic transfers and 5.1 mixes.

Another reason, which is more personal, is that I never really cared for these movies. Just saw something funny about a boxer that was constantly getting beat down to a bloody pulp, and then miraculously getting back up and winning the fight with one super punch.

Cool, glad i never picked up any of these movies. I've been so close to buying Rocky 3 and 4 since they're so cheap.

Have you considered not buying new ones and enjoying the ones you own?

I'm a big Rocky fan, but I don't know if I want to upgrade even though I was a little disappointed with the old Boxset. I guess it all depends on the release day sale price.

I will sell my set and get this for the anamorphic transfers...however, if they release the movies individually (which I doubt), Ill only pick up the first three, as IV and V are utter crap (ok I dont know for a fact about V because I havent seen it...IV left such a bad taste in my mouth that Ive yet to watch V). But the first 3 are all great.

IV is awesome. i always get psyched when the last fight is starting. i think part 3 is probably my least favorite.
