I opened the mail box today and had a package from DVDfanatic.com so I opened it and inside was a letter and the Simpson season 4 boxset. The letter read congartulations you won. Funny thing is I don't remeber entering the contest for the Simpsons, but hey first time I ever one any type of contest. Anyone elese ever win something from them?

Congratulations! That's always a pleasant surprise : )

I haven't won anything from them, but I recently won Dead Like Me S1 from another site.

I've probably won 8 or 10 dvd's from various sites; the bad thing is, the only one I really 'wanted' was Dead Like Me. I've enjoyed the others to various extents, but they weren't things I was going to buy anyway [I guess that might be the point of some giveaways, to get product into the hands of people who might not buy it anyway, so maybe they'll buy stuff in the future.]

Congrats man! Enjoy the DVD! I have never entered a contest to win free DVDs, I would do that but I don't really see any contests on the internet to win free DVDs. If there is any, I would enter.

I won twice here at dvdtalk. The first time I won 8 Mile and a few months ago Spy Kids 3D. SK 3D was a total surprise because I never received any e-mail notification about winning like I did when I won 8 Mile. For a minute there I was trying to figure out if I actually bought it because it just showed up in a box with no mention of me winning any contast, just a dvd.

I've never won anything. But I don't enter a ton. If I don't want something, then I won't try to win it for free. If I really want something, I'm usually planning to buy it long before the contest is over anyway, so I don't enter. It's just the inbetween stuff that I go for.

And in the past several months, I've even slowed down on that.

I came in 3rd place in a box office predictions competition last year. First and second place's DVD packs were pretty good. Naturally, I was stuck with a bunch of independent and foreign films I'd never heard of and a Roger Corman box set. At least they should be worth some $$ if I ever get around to eBaying them.

I won Sopranos S4 from DVD Town last fall. I enter those contests only occasionally on a few sites, and only for things I want. I never received an e-mail notification or anything, it was waiting on my doorstep when I came home from work one night. It took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on until I found a note tucked inside the mailer box. Only time I've ever won any kind of a contest like that.

I won tickets to an In Flames concert many years ago from an online radio station. The thing is, I entered a different contest. In fact, there wasn't even a contest for In Flames. Still, it was great because I love them.

DVDTalk usually does some, but you have to hit the actual home page to see them, if you bookmark to the forums that might be why. Also check thedigitalbits.com, they seem to give away a few discs/sets a month it seems like.

I've been entering them since around 98 and have won squat. I am very unlucky.

wow! the only thing I have one is second or third place on that contest that That 70's Show was having.

You had to get the days/weeks word and enter it online.

Got 2 gift cards worth a total of $150 for Champs Sports. Bought two pair of shoes and a hat!

Yah! for me.

NO DVD wins though.

Does DVDTown call to verify the winner? My reason for asking is because they ask for a phone number and I once got an odd message on my answering machine like they thought it was a person and when they realized it was a machine stopped and hung up. I never received anything and was always curious if what they do is call the winner and if they don't get an answer right away they move on to someone else.

I think the only contest I've entered is one for all 9 seasons of the X-Files on TVShowsOnDVD. Didn't win, needless to say.

I won a nice Panasonic dvd player from the late lamented 800.com but I can't remember ever winning a dvd on line. I've won a few through local newspapers or other promotions.

Not really DVD related completely, but I use to enter the IFC contests fairly often. Never won any of the DVDs but I did win a jacket from them. That was cool since I don't remember entering any contest where that was an option of a prize.

SFsite.com's are, at least. I won a Xena DVD set from them last month. (Didn't want it, so I sold it on ebay and bought the Batman Animated set.)
