Sad to see - 'Save the Beaver' Donations Drive
not sure how many of u follow dvdbeaver.com..., for me it used to be a daily ritual. It appears as if the website is running into financial trouble.
http://207.136.67.23/film/new/default.htm i though i would simply let u know all know.., it saddens me to think of the day dvdbeaver would cease to exist !. i am going to do my bit and i am hoping others would weigh in also . Mods if u feel this thread is inappropriate please let me know or delete/close it . Note: other than being a ‘religious’ visitor to dvdbeaver.com , I am not affiliated to the website in any way thanks |
I have never heard of the site. What was it? A DVD review site? A DVD news site?
|
Honestly, I thought Jerry Mathers was in financial trouble, seeking donations from fans when I saw that subject line.
I was wondering what it was doing in the DVD forum. :) |

It's a great website that compares different dvd versions of movies from around the world, complete with screenshots. He seems to do quite a bit of foreign film. I too visit it almost daily.

i started laughing after seeing scott27's comment ..., funny title if i should say so myself :)
anyways .., here is some info DVDBeaver.com - Eclectic Cinema and Digital Versatile Discs was the title of the website. It was a great site with Graphic comparisons of releases, upcoming cover images, release calendar, and reviews. they were probably the first ones to warn users of the cropping problem with MGM's Berman box set. their side-by-side picture comparisons of different releases were invaluable. for e.g.) try the apu trilogy comparison of R2 Artificial Eye release and R1 Columbia tri start release. http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache...+trilogy&hl=en sorry could get only cached WebPages from goggle since their site seems to be offsite their reviews have always helped me decide on which release to get ( esp. for foreign films) . their essential non-region1 DVD's helped me get started on other region DVD's i have been using them for about 2 years only , i am sure there are others on the forum who know about it more than i do . |
I did my part. Used Paypal. This is a very useful resource, especially for us region-free DVD junkies.
|
I donated $10 bucks. I use this site nearly every day.
|
I, as well, though this had something to do with Leave it to Beaver coming to DVD.
Never heard of the site, and I am region 1 only, so I guess that's why. Good luck to you! |
Yeah, I chipped in a few bucks as well. "The Beav" is also one of my daily stops, and the comparison reviews were extremely helpful. I hope enough people chip in to make ends meet.

Let's help the guy, for crissake... his Robocop comparison was priceless... can anyone here hook him up with a corporate sponsor? He's Canadian, so maybe anyone here knows how to milk some money from the federal government, to keep this cultural project up and running.
|
im all for helping the guy, but does he have any long term plans??
sure he can pay the bills now, but what happens next month? ask for more donations? |
