Well although I'd like to have that bonus disc, I'm still gonna just stick with the plain 4-discer.

I'm not a die hard LOTR fan, but that set looks really cool.

Artman 08-10-04 12:16 AM

Now that I look at it, the Minas Tirth sculpture really isn't that big. After the initial "wow" reaction - my interest in the giftset is waning.

or you could wait a year or so and get it for $28 new at Best Buy, sell the bookends (TT:EE) and have it pay for both FOTR:EE and TT:EE like i did! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_20.gif' alt='Wakka Wakka' border=0></a>

People could bearly wait the few months till this is released. I highly doubt they will want to wait the full year. STL and other deals will bring the potential price down on this sucker.

steebo777 08-10-04 07:24 AM

Man that set looks hot!

Geofferson 08-10-04 08:20 AM

Forgive me if this answer is buried in one of the other RotK threads, but...

Is this DVD different than the one that was included with the LE soundtrack CD?

No, I don't think so. That DVD only had the super trailer plus a 20 minute documentary on Howard Shore. I'd expect this DVD to be a bit more extensive on the orchestration, etc.

Is that a Minas Tirith ashtray?
If so, count me in!

Cheers.

It was a price error in his favor. Guess they put the bar code for the regular EE on the package. either way it spawned off a series of funny post where he wanted to sell/trade but didn't know a price and so forth. ooooh the memories.

Here you have===>

From Howard Shore:

Certainly there's an audience for such a project. People who attended the shows will want something to remember them by, and those folks not fortunate enough to live in a city which hosted the concerts want to know what they missed. Shore says, "Yeah, we're discussing it. I just finished (on July 12) editing a documentary that was shot with the Montreal Symphony and the Montreal Grand Choir and Children's Choir in February. It's a 52-minute piece that has excerpts of the symphony with discussion about the pieces. It talks about creating the symphony. That will be broadcast in the fall and it's also planned for the 'Special Extended Edition' of 'The Return of the King.'"
From BRAVO!:

Bravo! Presents The Lord of the Rings Symphony by Howard Shore, September 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET

Two hundred musicians and singers from the Montréal Symphony Orchestra, the Grand Choir and the Children's Choir of Montréal take to the stage for the six-movement symphony. The performance also includes projections of exquisite sketches and set designs made for the trilogy. In interview clips inserted between movements, Shore describes his inspirations and his creative process, different aspects of the symphony and the films, and what links the music with the images.

bboisvert 08-11-04 08:12 AM

Ah, cool. Completely different.

Well, they just sold another boxed set. Thanks.

Josh H 08-11-04 12:53 PM

I'll just pick up the 4 disc version, not really interested enough in the Minas Tirith thing or a disc of extras I'll watch once to shell out the extra $$$.
