After reading Malign's other posts, I can see that it is best just to ignore him/her.

Getting back to Goodfellas: I checked six different Targets yesterday. They are definitely aware of the proper release date. I have only read one review of the new version, but apparently the video quality is excellent.

Care to post a link? I'm curious to hear how the extras turned out.

It is in a keepcase, as mentioned in that review.

Isn't De Niro, Liotta, and Pesci supposed to have a group commentary on this?

From the September issue of FHM:

"Pesci's "Do I amuse you" speech was based on a real tirade he survived from a friend with a violent temper. Pesci reenacted the encounter for Scorsese, who liked it so much he inserted it in the script."

One of my favorite movies and I'm glad I held out for the Special Edition.

Are you SURE they come in a keepcase, Jough? Even at Best Buy? Even at Circuit City?

Well, it hasn't hit stores yet, so we'll see, but every indicator is that it'll be in a 2-disc slim keepcase.

Even the single disc Mystic River, the last high-profile snapper-only release, is out now in a keepcase version. I guess the days of the snapper are finally over!

I read in a review that there is no insert with Goodfellas, but I can't remember which site it was on.

For those who can't wait, you may want to check your local Blockbuster. I was at one tonight and they had it for sale. It's $19.99 and yes it is in a keepcase

I started a thread in the DVDTalk Review forum last week and mentioned that there was no insert.

Watched this one last night and was VERY impressed with the commentary track. It's one of the best I've ever heard. Everybody - and I mean everybody - pops up sooner or later to talk about the film (well, maybe not everybody; I was hoping to hear from Michael Imperioli during the Spider scene, but at least we get Joe Pesci talking about it).

What was interesting is that no one EVER mentions the Sopranos, except for a quick reference by Lorraine Bracco, who points out how the two best projects she's ever done are both mob-related. Watching the movie again (I hadn't seen it in a long time), I was struck by what a huge, huge debt the Sopranos owes to the film.

Looking forward to watching "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" tonight, which is the only Scorsese movie I've never seen.

Nuts. I was just watching mine ... it skips from the part where Karen and Henry have their first fight to Henry bringing in the Christmas tree (around 54 minutes for me). Anyone else experience this?

Edit: Oops, it was the selected commentary track moving forward. Carry on!
