I tried watching, but for some reason it didn't air on publiv television in my area. Why, I have no idea. I'd be interested in seeing it as well.

Regarding Lucas on Charlie Rose - anyone else catch when Lucas mentioned something about 'directing' ROTJ? Maybe it was a slip on his part, but I thought it was interesting.
|
Well he pushed around Richard Marquand enough to be the director of ROTJ. Anyway, down in fraggle rock.
|
According to Kershner, Lucas did direct most of ROTJ, with Kershner's assistant director doing some pickup shots. According to him, the actors did not respond well to Marquand, and he and Lucas ended up not getting along.

What a clown...
""The original 'Star Wars' was only three films, and that was what it was meant to be," Lucas said. "After a lot of pondering and thought, I went back to do the back story, but that pretty much tells the story. Episode six is the end. There isn't any more to it."~~~ Lucas It was meant for 3???? I also thought it was 6!?!?! He wrote the "back story" before and decented to start from Ep4 because it was more exciting. Wasn't that it? Or has the story changed again? |
Originally posted by Terrell No you don't. It will be easy to understand, for those that are willing to accept it. Then again, some of you won't accept anything except the original theatrical cuts. It is called suspension of disbelief. |
It was a damn good log.

so have we concluded that the outerbox is flimsy? the pics i've seen were R2 and flimsy. Supposedly their boxes are different from R1. Anyone know if the R1's will be sturdy like the Indy set or flimsy like BTTF?

Well I just got mine and the outside box is flimsy, and had glue all over it from where they had it stuck together. It came right off though so its no big deal. About to go pop them in and have a good old Star Wars movie night...
|
Could someone please explain where/how you get your trilogy DVD so early?
|
Vendors have them already .....also you can find them on Ebay.

Originally posted by BJacks You mean the glue that held the tiny informational piece of cardboard? That was possibly the most disgusting looking glue I've ever seen. It was right out of the hair gel from Something About Mary. I tossed it on the keyboard of the guy sitting next to me and he just about had a heart attack. |
Actually, the glue took off part of the box on mine. I couldn't figure out how to open the damn thing when I got it!!
|
Now exactly, where is this crazy glue?
|
it's on the top and side of the box. the cardboard "advertisement" is "L" shaped and is glued to the box.

i'm sorry if this has already been asked, but i'm not gonna look through 18 pages to see if it has..
my question is, will the subtitles for the alien dialogue be burnt in, or will they show in a seperate subtitle track (as it should on DVD)..? anyone know? i haven't decided on the local R2 release or the R1, but i'd really hate it if they R1 had burnt-in subtitles, when the R2 most likely won't (since that'd look bizarre with local subtitles on top). didn't Kill Bill have an automatically loading subtitle track that only translated the foreign dialogue? i'm pretty sure it did.. and i really, really hope Lucasfilms used that here too.. burnt-in subtitles are so not DVD-like. |
Hmm. I'd think they'd do the DVD subtitle thing for the OT the same way they did with the PT, which doesn't look like burnt in subtitles.
And I thought the burnt in subtitles in Kill Bill was a tad too small anyway. :) Edit: Aw hell, now I'm confused. |
Star Wars DVD-Boba Fett
i work at blockbuster and we just got the trilogy for rental. Of course i immediately rented them. Watching them in DVD quality has made my life complete(we havent gotten episode 6 in yet DOH!)....1 MAJOR screw up is Boba Fett. instead of having the original voice they replaced it with Temuera Morrison's (jango Fett) voice. I Immediately turned the movie off that instant. I was screaming bloody murder. I sounded like someone getting their body ripped to shreds by a spork. I will of course watch the movie all the way through, after i send a few hundred death threats to george lucas for screwing up an awesome character. First creating Jar Jar, now messing with the baddest bounty hunter ever. other than that 1 mistake (HUGE) the movies are great. Let me know what u guys think.

The guy had four or five frickin lines! |
Anthony Daniels is complaining about the new movies.. Are you guys going to crap on him too!
Daniels makes no secret about his favorite of the six. "The first film spoke to everyone on the planet. It still works as a funny, bright movie. It still has legs," he said of the films by U.S. director George Lucas. When Lucas returned to the pre-quels, Daniels was not so sure. "George's devotion to digital effects over-balanced the films. Too many digital funky characters become a little bit wearing. The storytelling always gets subsumed." |
