The O.C.: Season 1 - Release Date, SRP and Extras

From TVShowsOnDVD.com:
Warner Bros Home Video has announced that they are bringing Fox's #1 new series to DVD on October 26th, which is when we expected to see the set released. The set is timed to be released just before the second season premiere on November 4th.

All 27 episodes will be released on this 7 disc set (1188 mins), with a ton of extras. Look for the set to contain:

• Pilot episode commentary
• On-screen music guide for six episodes
• Unaired scenes with introductions
• 3 never-before-seen featurettes with the cast and crew
• and much more!

All this for the suggested price of $69.98 US.

The O.C. premiered in August, 2003, and after a 7-week test it recorded very high numbers for Fox, making the fall pickup no surprise.

Not to sound naive, but what does "OC" stand for? Other Culture?

The station I watch it on has always shown it in full screen. They show a banner during it that says broadcast in high def widescreen where available at the beginning. I hope the set is in widescreen.

Hope the episodes aren't compressed to hell. And I wonder if it will include the un-aired(still looking for a network maybe the WB) pilot or the FOX one.

That's anyone else think that the suggested retail price for this set is a little high?

I love this show however, it will probably cost me around $70-80 Canadian to buy this set.

1.85:1 is normal widescreen for most movies. 1.33:1 is your traditional tv picture size. True HDTV is 1.77:1, so if it says broadcast in Hi Def where available before episodes, I would guess it will be in widescreen.

I know picture ratios I'm just saying this looked similar to a 1.85:1 movie when I watched it on TV, but you're probably right, I forgot HDTV used a different ratio.

It's prob will be 7 discs and with 4 eps per discs

7discs * 4 eps = 28 eps can be fit
so... yeah the quality should be good

Bad news for WS TV viewers.......

Well it looks like the aspect ratio for this release of the box set is going to be 1.33:1, damn FULL FRAME. The show actually aired in WS, so this is just a total blow to my decision since this was one of those dvds that I was for sure going to pick up. Granted I can watch old tv shows in FULL FRAME, but not shows that have aired in the past 2 years. Anyways this info is coming direct from tvshowsondvd.com, who updated there post about this part. Hopefully FOX changes this around when they release it in october, like they did with Roswell, where they announced FULL FRAME but released it with WS.

Anyone else live here in The O.C. like some of us here at The Bits do? Well... you'll be thrilled to know that the first season of the hit Fox series arrives on DVD on October 26th from Warner Bros. The 7-disc set will include all 26 episodes in anamorphic widescreen video. Extras will include commentary on the pilot episode, unaired scenes with introductions by the show's creators, 3 featurettes, an "onscreen music guide" for 6 episodes and more. Now excuse us while Matt and I go pick a fight on the beach...

I was just wondering if anyone knows how this will be packaged?

like will it be the card-board box (like friends and nip/tuck)
or
slim-cases (like futurama)

or

the book cases (like smallville & Gilmore Girls)?

I hope its the book cases...

and will it include all the original songs? becaue thats a pretty low price (MSRP) if they licenced all the song (many on them are still very popular)....

thanks
