OK the good folks at creature-corner.com have posted the specs for the canadain release, so I thought I would post both discs' specs so maybe we won't have 5 "Which version is better" threads pop-up for this film when it's released.

Looks like an almost draw to me, I guess the commentary will be a clincher for some folks, but i'm not too big on Single Person Commentaries, I like a group effort. I will probally get the Canadian just so I can have the canadian version of all 3.

Yeah, now we'll only have three.

Thanks for the specs. No trailer for the US?
I think I'll stick with the US version, but I might be swayed if reviews come out saying the commentary is spectacular.

Good news... can't wait. These movies rock. It's interesting that, with the first movie, the differences betweent the US and Canadian DVDs were like night and day. With each subsequent release, they specs are almost the same.

Good for us (U.S.) I guess :)

Yeah, I have the Canadian disc for the first film, the US for the second, and will most likely purchase the US for the third.

Same here. Can't wait for this.

I have the canadian version of 1 and 2 so I might go canadian again. There doesn't seem to be much difference.

This has turned out to be a great set of movies! I never thought there would be a sequel but was shocked when they did. Now a third movie rocks.

thanks for the info. it looks like Canadian for me. the commentary is enough for me to go Canadian and the trailer is an added bonus.

mini review i did last month:

This movie seems to have been billed as a prequel. It is not a prequel and has no continuity as the first movie is to the sequel, which left off where the first one ended.

Although our resident actresses are still named Bridgette and Ginger. the movie takes place in 19th Century Canada. Our girls stumble across a Native American campsite that has been ravaged. They meet an Elder Lady who gives them some charms and says "Kill the young boy and the curse will be lifted".

They then are led to a fort in the middle of the Canadian wilderness (winter). Supplies are running out and the survey crews have not returned. Thus, a sparsely populated fort. They are afraid of something and something is loose in the fort.

We have a pretty entertaining cast here. The sympathetic fort master, the irritating bible thumper, the wacky doctor, and the mysterious Natives who seem to be able to freely travel in and out of the fort.

"Kill the boy and the Curse will be lifted".

The movie spends a bit too much time in the fort, and the story drags and we get thoroughly annoyed with the bible thumper who we hope will somehow die a horrible death

In this movie, infection seems to take quite a long time, which does fit into the movie.

The elder mentions that 'One Sister will kill another"... Who will get infected... will the curse be lifted... will Axolotls watch this again?

The movie bored me for the bulk of it. The ending was spectacular and perhaps saved the movie for me.

Script: 7/10
Special FX: 7/10
Werewolf Count: 8/10
Sexy Count: Bridgett shows her derrier 7/10
How Many Times I got up to do something else: 3

OVERALL: 7/10 (6/10 without the ending)

This franchise seems to have steadily declined. I will hope that it ends here and leave the trilogy as a decent legacy.

It's the least of the 3, but for a modern day (albiet set in the past) horror film its pretty good.

What is the best website to purchase Canadian DVDs?

matome 07-16-04 07:55 AM

I haven't ordered a Canadian disc in a while, but when I have, www.absound.ca has worked very well for me. Haven't tried amazon.ca yet.

DaveCole 09-10-04 05:35 AM

www.videoflicks.com is my favorite.

OldBoy 09-11-04 09:36 AM

I saw the US version yesterday and it said "Deleted Scenes with optional commentary" and then "Director Commentary" as a seperate feature.
Is this the commentary that was supposed to be only on the Canadian version and thus there would seem to be no difference between the two?

Can anyone confirm this on the US version? Thanks in advance.

eXcentris 09-11-04 07:03 PM

Apparently the Canadian version is not anamorphic.

jerm_87 09-11-04 08:31 PM

The canadian edition is widescreen. It has a trailer and a trailer gallery that isn't on the US disc. That is about all that is different between the two discs, besides the packaging!

Mok 09-11-04 09:43 PM

what is it with Lions Gate and not putting trailers on there US released dvds. Punisher and Ginger Snaps Back have no trailers.

OldBoy 09-12-04 12:00 PM

what about full length commentary, is that def on the US?

jerm_87 09-12-04 12:10 PM

The commentary is DEFINITLY on the American release. It was confirmed above! ^

OldBoy 09-12-04 02:48 PM

thanks above. and can anyone confirm the canadian is NOT anamorphic?

jerm_87 09-12-04 04:56 PM

Well, my Canadian DVD Press Release Seville Pictures sent me says this:

Original Widescreen Theatrical Version (16/9)

is that confirmation of anamorphic? a press release doesn't sound like the substantial, actual DVD. and does 16x9 mean anamorphic?
anyone actually have and can def confirm? thanks again.

eXcentris 09-12-04 06:49 PM

And someone who owns it on a Canadian forum says it is not anamorphic. I'll try to confirm with someone else who might have it.

jerm_87 09-12-04 07:25 PM

http://venus.walagata.com/w/smokey/gs3back.jpg

Theres the back art for Ginger Snaps III. It says "16/9"...which is also what Unleashed said, and it is widescreen.

eXcentris 09-12-04 07:32 PM

Frankly, it woudn't be the 1st time that Seville printed incorrect info on their DVD's.

jerm_87 09-12-04 07:44 PM

http://www.hollywoodnorthreport.com/...php?Review=451

"The transfer is the original 16x9 widescreen version (not enhanced) with 5.1 Dolby Digital."

Phew. I'm doing everything to find info here and you guys just keep on coming up with excuses hahahaha!
