That's excellent! This has been my most wanted R1 DVD for a couple of years now.

Of course!

I just recently broke down and bought the R3 release cause I was tired of waiting too.

Figures.

I'll probably pass until the price hits rock bottom.

Yup. Me, too. And I only broke down because I recently read in a post that Universal had no plans for a region 1 release. I also have the old region 1 issue for nostalgic reasons.

Well, what do ya know. I was able to cancel my order for Flash Gordon from the UK. One of the items in my order is holding up shipment until April. (Just checked again, it's "Dr. Terror's House of Horrors" that's out of stock.)

Now I can retire my laserdisc. I want it in HD, though.

I'm more curious about these two Hitchcock Legacy Series releases. Are these going to be much better than the discs already available (I own a couple of Legacy Series titles but haven't opened them yet to view their contents) and are they releasing more of Hitch's titles in that series?

I am feeling blessed after reading how much you guys have sold your old Flash Gordon's for. I had pretty much given up on getting this because I was not going to pay those eBay prices. Then, a couple of months ago, I walked in to my local used CD/DVD store and there was Flash in the used items. The package and disc looked like brand new. I snatched that baby up for $7.95 and felt I had hit the jackpot.

I bought the R2 SE about a year ago so I probably won't bother upgrading for this new one. I doubt they'll add the DTS track and I like that silver case it comes in.

A local pawn shop had 5-6 or them in the case about 2 years back. I bought all for $10 cash. Each sold on eBay for upwards of $30 a piece, with one buyer offering $50 outside auction AND paid for overnight shipping!.

Flash looks very effeminate in that artwork, not to mention looking like a digital cartoon character. Can't say it's doing much for me, although Ming looks cool. The original poster art would have been better.

Here's a bit of great news: At long last, Universal has finally announced a title we first revealed in The Rumor Mill a couple months back - the Flash Gordon: Saviour of the Universe Edition! The single-disc DVD release will street on 8/7 (SRP $26.98). I'll admit, I was actually hoping for an HD-DVD version as well, but one isn't currently planned. In any case, the film will be presented in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. There will be at least some special features and the title will come in "premium" packaging. No other details are yet available, but we'll tell you more as its revealed by the studio.
No DTS?

Premium packaging tho. Steelbook?

Still cant wait for this release. Its the quality of the disc inside that I am worried about, not the cover.

Hopefully it's as good as the French release.

It amazes me that the old Image snapper can still command those prices. Unless you're watching it on a 27" tube set, it looks like absolute poop. Hell, for $100, you're within striking distance of a decent region-free player and the R2 special edition.

I've been waiting for this for what seems like forever. I hope Universal doesn't screw it up.

To be fair though, from what I recall (admittedly it's been awhile since I watched the movie), Flash had an effeminate look in the movie also, like he was wearing eye makeup or something. I seem to recall everyone having that look to them. I don't mind the cover though.

But what's up with the British spelling of "saviour"??
