this looks like a single disc release...what happened to the 3 disc that was talked about? Oh well, sweet cover art tho
Tight, I'll be double-dipping for sure!
Looks like I'll be getting both.
I never saw the movie, but that is amazing cover art.
Neato. I was going to get the 2 disc version and then the 3 disc one later on but I like this idea better. I was thinking that the 3 disc would have the same extras as the 2 disc but this is the way to do it. Depending on what the figure is I might get the deluxe one.
I may double dip on this one, but fear that they may come up with a deluxe edition like they did with MIB, Spidey, ...
I may have to rent this before I buy. I found the original one lacked focus and didnt know if it wanted to be a comedy or a serious film. Maybe this cut will change that.
I am so waiting for this DC disc!!!
The cover -- is that a Mike Mignola painting?
If so, AWESOME! |
Any chance of getting a DTS track like Del Toro did on Blade 2?

Bad news peeps :(, well kind of.
We have an update on the Hellboy DC due later this year: Straight from the man himself, Guillermo Del Toro has confirmed that the November release of Hellboy Director's Cut will indeed be a 3-Disc set. The package will house all of the extra features found in the July 27th release of the 2-disc Special Edition (reviewed in full here), with the addition of a third disc with all-new extra features including an exclusive Excerpt From The Diary Of Grigori Rasputin. Del Toro also says that the first disc of the set will have "a new commentary track that I feel very happy with". A Hellboy DVD Gift Set will include the 3-disc DC set, collectible packaging and a limited edition Sideshow Hellboy mini-bust. The Director's Cut of the movie has been confirmed to be extended by 15mins. As usual we will bring you more information as and when we receive it. For now, you can read our full review of the July 27th release of the Hellboy Special Edition here and you can read on to see a detailed look at the cover art for the Director's Cut, supplied by Columbia Tristar. If del Torro is indeed correct, it may be worth holding out for 4 more months and get the DC set. |

So the DC will contain all the same extras as the 2-disc? That seals the deal for me--I'll be picking up the DC and holding off on the 2-disc. Sony sure does know how to exploit their audience. Maybe we'll see a deluxe edition just in time for Hellboy 2.
It sounds like the DC will contain the same stuff as the 2-disc SE, except for the extended cut instead of the threatical cut, plus a new commentary, and a third disc of extras.
In that case, I will skip the 2-disc and go for the 3-disc. |

To me, it sounds like the DC just actually includes the Directors Cut of the movie, plus the Theatrical Cut from the SE, plus the extras disc on the SE.
Looks like I'll be getting the DC only, like some of you. Saving money is always good.
Dir. Cut cover is sweet!
definitely holding off on buying the 2 disker... Gift set for me!
Ah, good news. Now I will hold out for the DC. :)
