Dream On: Seasons 1 & 2 coming in October

From TVShowsOnDVD.com:
It's nice to say "we told ya' so!" Dream On - Seasons 1 & 2 has been announced for DVD release on Oct. 12 by Universal, in a 5-DVD box set.

As we mentioned last time, Dream On premiered in 1990, and was Executive Produced/Produced by John Landis and the future Friends production team of Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane. Brian Benben, Chris Demetral, and Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me) star in this show that featured snippets of imagination shown coming to life, long before Ally McBeal appropriated the concept. The first season consisted of 14 episodes, and the second season consisted of 15 episodes (counting the double-length season premiere as "two episodes", since you're gettiing twice the normal show).

As naughty as Friends wanted to be at times, Dream On actually went there! It's Cable-TV origins at HBO allowed it to be fairly explicit with what it said, and showed! Certainly part of the show's appeal.

Expect this to sell for $59.98 SRP, with 1.33:1 video and English audio. No further details are available yet, but stay tuned...we'll let you know when we have them!

i wonder how they got the rights to all those old movie clips. I would assume that's even more difficult than some of the music rights for other TV shows.

You might be on to something digitalfreaknyc. If they replaced a bunch of the original clips with newer, licensed clips I (and I think many others) am going to be ticked.

As far as I remember, those old clips were actually from television shows or B-movies produced and owned by the studio that produced "Dream On". (Which I am assuming is Universal.)

Thus there really shouldn't be any "rights" issues, since they own the content.

I could be wrong. But who cares? Right now I'm getting paid to watch Lodoss War. Long story. And I'll definitely be picking this up.

I didn't think this would be coming soon, but am sure glad it is! I've been waiting a long time for this, hopefully they won't screw this up. C'mon Universal, do this release right!!

Thanks OP, I will add this to my Xmas list.

This is good news. I've been waiting for this. I'm anxious to see if this show has aged well.

Is the $59.99 MSRP for seasons 1 & 2, or just one season? If both, I'll probably pick it up.

I really liked this show, and it had copious profanity and nudity to keep the whole family interested!

The only extra is the John Landis intro correct? I'm thinking on holding off on this until a package deal gets released for buying multiple seasons at once.

If it does not sell well then you wont see any more seasons to bundle this with.

Buy it now if you want to see more episodes.

Its one of my favourite shows but I doubt it will sell in huge numbers.

I agree , buy it now or you might not see future seasons released...I think it's a nice starting package having 2 seasons together instead of just one...it's $39.99 at Best Buy this week.

Well, now that Amazon has raised their price to $50 I definitely won't be picking it up. The only way now is any future sale.
