THAT's MY BUSH Any New News?

Davis DVD announced last year that Comedy Central would be releasing this in 2004 to coincide with the national elections, but I haven't seen an official release date. Anybody have any news news?

speedyray 06-26-04 09:57 AM

If they release it at a reasonable price I will definately pick this one up.

conscience 06-26-04 12:03 PM

It probably won't get released until Bush is out.

Bacon 06-26-04 12:53 PM

I'd love a Michael Moore commentary ;)
I've never seen it and will probably skip it.

Matthew Chmiel 06-26-04 12:54 PM

"One of these days Laura, I'm gonna punch you in the face!"

DeputyDave 06-26-04 02:52 PM

I would love to get this (if it is priced reasonably).

I read somewhere recently that the DVD release date will be in September if that helps.

Nope. Try 2009.

This show would have been funny, but...umm, 9/11 happened and then poking fun at the President just didn't seem funny anymore.

freshticles 06-26-04 08:01 PM

Yeah..its not funny to poke fun at the handicapped.

I never understood this at all. To each his own, though. To. each. his. own.

On topic, hoping the September date holds. Shouldn't there be a pre-order already up though? Next month, maybe?

Jah-Wren Ryel 06-26-04 08:58 PM

I got the impression that was cancelled/off-the-air a month or two before 9/11.

Putting all politics aside, I thought the show was awful and juvenile. I mean Saturday Night Live's presidential skits over the years were much, much better.

Hmm, just 4 months after Bush took office. Must have been pretty bad in agreement with what the above poster said.

I've never seen the show, but short-lived doesn't necessarily equal bad. To use a recent example, Wonderfalls seems to be considered by many to be a good show (I've never seen that one either) but it only aired half as long as That's My Bush.

Kristen Miller = HOT.

The show was a parody of basically every sitcom ever made. Yes, it was crude, juvenile, tasteless, and offense; but what the hell else are you to expect from Trey Parker and Matt Stone? The show was hilarious and it's a shame the high budget costs made Comedy Central cancel it.

And the show did have it's share of satire too, similar to the later seasons of South Park. Come on... in the first episode, the leader of the pro-choice side was an aborted fetus... that's ****in' genius! :)

Indeed ... in this case, it equalled "too expensive" ... the show itself was a pretty funny parody (of sitcoms, not Bush), and was starting to get really good in the last few eps.

Plus, Bottoms went on to play Bush in a more conservative-friendly film* ... so it would be interesting to make the early interpretation as well.

(*=I'm speaking, of course, about 'Crocodile Hunter'.)

So, now that the election is almost upon us.. What the heck ever happened to this?! I just rewatched the first episode last night (had a few taped when it was on it's short run), and it's still funny.. if not a little dated. If Bush doesn't win the election, it will date even faster, so they need to get this out already!

Er, any updates out there? :)

The Infidel 10-26-04 10:24 AM

You know, I've been watching this show She-Spies, and I was wondering where I've seen Kristen Miller before. Now that I clicked on this thread, I remember now!
