Bad News for Miyazaki Fans

According to The Digital Bits, the releases of Porco Rosso, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and My Neighbor Totoro are delayed for unknown reasons with no release date set.

. . . unless of course you have the R2 versions. I've had my discs for a year now.

DAMMIT!

*sigh* Hopefully the delay gets cleared up and this won't turn into another Ed Wood fiasco.

Yep, same for the other 2. I wonder if it's just a random date....

Will the American edition of Porco Rosso have the French language track? I hear Jean Reno does the voice of the pig and in general, I think a French track would suit this film beautifully.

A delay really isn't the worst news...

Announcing that the discs will be full-frame, English only, edited, or with special features = trailer would be bad news...

Word! I'd rather they got the discs right the first time. Besides, with the DDD sale, I've got enough stuff to tide me over until November anyway.

Well, at least they didn't pull an Ed Wood and delayed it a week before its release.

As others have said, this is disappointing news, but not the worst that could happen. A lot of people were prophesizing doom when the third wave of Disney Treasures got delayed by several months, but they eventually came out just fine and were great. I'm not about to condemn Disney. They make great DVDs and have done a teriffic job with Miyazaki's films to this point. If they need a little more time to get things right, so be it. I can wait.
