Post pics of your DVD collection and HT, Part 5
|
I need to get a digital camera. I was hoping to make it in before part 3 closed.
|
I was hoping to have my theater area done by the time a new page got started, but I'm not. . . quite . . done. . urgh!!! Soon though . . .soon . . .

I would post my HT setup if it wasn't so un-impressive. I wait with baited breath for more pics though.
|
I'll be the first then to post my theater pics. Not much has changed since the last thread minus a butload of new DVDs and a little eye candy.
Sanyo PLV-Z1 projecting onto a 110" Stewart StudioTek 130 screen: http://www.wideopenwest.com/~shackle...ics/front2.jpg Equipment rack and front left speaker topless: http://www.wideopenwest.com/~shackle...cs/topless.jpg Seating area with rear couch raised 5" for tiered effect: http://www.wideopenwest.com/~shackle...pics/back1.jpg And of course, the DVD collection (yes both towers are full, time for a new storage idea): http://www.wideopenwest.com/~shackle.../pics/dvds.jpg |
That monster set really does look great up on a shelf. First time I've seen it. Cool set up man. I like the seating.

Wel,l here are my goods...

Wow, I thought I had a lot of DVD's 'till I saw some of your collections. I need a tower like the one in the post above. I don't have a HT, so that sucks.

|
Finally got my HD setup, so I don't feel ashamed anymore posting pics. :)

To the two guys above with projectors, how is the picture quality? I've never seen a game/movie/show running on a projector but in the next year I'm going to be interested in purchasing an HDTV and if a projector is the way to go, that would be nice to have such a large screen!
Plus, according to the Wall Street Journal (by way of Slashdot), Sony has fixed one of the biggest problems with projectors! |
Yes, if you have the ambient light control for a room, and the throw distance for it, a front projector is the only way to go. The image is crystal clear (especially if you want to drop a little more bank and pick up a second-gen DLP projector over an LCD). HDTV signals look stunning on it, and games (especially if you're running a component out from the system) are amazing. Watching a movie or playing Mario Kart on a 9.5 foot screen is like nothing else in your home :)
And for that link to Sony's 'screen fixing problem', there has never been a big issue with it as long as you got a grey screen (like the Stewart FireHawk series). It is an interesting idea to use a black screen though. Forewarning to you, it is easy to spend more on the screen than the actual projector (for instance my screen retails for about $4k, while the projector retails for about $2k). You don't have to spend more on a screen, it's all just personal preference on how good you want that image. For all projector info, go over to Projector Central for all of your needs. |

Except for carpeting which I paid to have installed 2.) I got the room built, painted and ready to watch in like 3 months of work mainly on weekends and some things in the evening after work. 3.) Yep, that's an infocus X1 |

Here are two pics of my set-up and collection.
I moved into a new house recently, and since the handyman was here anyway, I had him construct a custom shelf to hold my DVD's and laserdiscs. The TV is a Toshiba Theaterwide. <img src =http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v326/jeffkjoe/tv.jpg><p> <img src=http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v326/jeffkjoe/collection.jpg> |
