Hoosiers SE 3-8-05

Posted over at HTF, here's an article that says a film crew was on hand for the 50th anniversary of the Milan vs. Muncie Central game which Hoosiers was based on.

specifically it says, mgm studios is filming documentary material for a special edition of the hoosiers dvd. cool

I can't believe some people hate this movie. There was an article on ESPN's page 2 from someone who said this was one of the worst sports movies ever. He said it was PREDICTABLE. Geez, that's like watching a replay of the Super Bowl and knowing who wins.

Another title I'm glad I held off on.

Too funny about that article from ESPN. I guess he doesn't like 80% of those damn pesky predictable sports movies

not much news, but the Digital Bits rumor mill reports the ball is still rolling on this:

finally some real news from DVDAnswers:

MGM Home Entertainment has announced a two-disc collector's edition of Hoosiers which stars Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey and Dennis Hopper. The film tells the story of a down-on-his-luck basketball coach who leads his underdog team all the way to the state championship. This new set will be available to own from the 8th March next year, and priced at around $29.98. As well as a new 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track, the two-disc set will include an audio commentary by Director David Anspaugh and Writer Angelo Pizzo, a Hoosier History: The Truth Behind the Legend documentary, deleted scenes With Introduction by Director David Anspaugh and Writer Angelo Pizzo, the Milan vs. Muncie 1954 Indiana High School Championship Game, a Photo Gallery and the Original Theatrical Trailer. We've attached our first look at the official region one artwork below:

I'm definitely getting this. I read the comments above about the cool cover and kind of rolled my eyes, cover geeks I thought. Then I looked. Nope, they're right, it's a cool cover.

This may be the 1st double dip I will ever do for a DVD I already own.

Two things that sold me on the Double Dip:
1. Better picture quality
2. Milan vs. Muncie 1954 Indiana High School Championship Game on the DVD

Love this movie!
