I'm always amazed at just how MANY times I read someone has held off buying virtually every disc out there, waiting for it's next rendition. I'll definitely double dip for this one, triple dip if one counts VHS

Nothing comes close to the ORIGINAL SNAPPER DVD COVER of HOOSIERS:
sorry the image is so small, couldn't find a bigger one.

Anyone else grab this today? Have not gotten home to watch it but looks like it is worth the 16 bucks. Have memories of sitting being at snowed in basketball practices watching this movie....

Yeah, it's GOOD! Not as much featurettes as I hoped but I watched the entire commentary and documentary. Very nice! I even watched the original game!
Personally, I like this Collector's Edition cover...simple & no heads. I'm SO glad I passed over on the full frame bare bones version.

I picked it up for $15.29 (took the $15.99 Best Buy ad to Circuit City, had them price match Best Buy's price of $15.99 plus 10% of the $7 price difference).
I look forward to watching it again and to watch the '56 Indiana high school title game, but probably won't get a chance until this upcoming weekend.
Here's the DVDTalk review of this version of Hoosiers:

Yeah, it's pretty damn cool. I'm not a huge sports fan, but one of my co-worker's bought it yesterday at lunch. It really does feel like a basketball - very cool!

Picked it up yesterday and watched all the extras. The documentary on the second disc is great. The deleted scenes are a nice extra too. Unfortunately, the commentary repeats a lot of info from the documentary but is still decent.

Aside from the tight fit of the slipcase, this is a very nice package. Slipcase fold out into a great 3 panel shot of the final shot with the respective parts of the picture replicated on the disc. The sneakers and barn shot is on the outer casing of the slipcover.
Film looks real nice in 16x9. Too bad the deleted scenes are in pretty poor condition. I like the intros by the writer and director before the deleted scenes. Documentary is well done; interesting to hear that Jack Nicholson was originally signed on to play Coach Dale and had to pass due to a scheduling conflict. I can't imagine anyone except Hackman in that role. For my money one of the best performances in his career.
This is my fourth dip I think - VHS, P&S LD, WS LD, SE DVD. . .
