Anyone know plans for Deadwood on DVD?
 

I'm dying for the show on DVD, loved the series and now I'm dying for the DVD set...

I've got 7 of the 12 episodes on the dtivo, but the other 5 aren't going to air until the end of the month. I'm not patient...

I'm sure they'll get around to it eventually, but I don't know how soon. It quickly became my favorite drama of the year -- Swearingen is so much fun to watch! I read that season 2 starts filming next month -- that's good news for my impatience!

deadwood will be the ultimate test of your patience. Ive heard it will be over a year before we see new episodes. :(

Im sure HBO will string this timeframe out with the DVD release to keep it on the radar. Thus id be surprised to see the dvd release in less than 6 months

Where'd you hear/read that?

Not that it would surprise me with the track record of past shows, but I know that The Sopranos delays are due to Chase's complex script writing and the schedules of the cast. I'm sure Deadwood is not on the same leve there.

Besides, haven't Six Feet Under and The Wire been pretty consistent?

I sure hope you are referring to the cast's schedules and not deadwood's scripts. I think deadwood's story is far more interesting than the soprano's. The characters are all pretty deep and complex more than is obvious at first glance. Who would have thought Al would have had so many different sides? He was never predictable. The only thing predictable to me is that you'll hear c*^#sucker and f&$* said many times. But, from what I understand that's pretty how it would be there.

Regardless, I hope shooting on S2 starts soon.

AS for DVD they would be smart to release season 1 a month or 2 before season 2 airs to try & pick up some more fans ..only time will tell

I just recently got HBO and have been working through the episodes on HBO On Demand. I've gotten through the first 5 or 6 so far. Its a good show, but I don't think it has enough replay value to merit owning on DVD.

Figure that Season 1 will show up on DVD to coincide with the start of Seaon 2 on HBO ...whenever that may be.

That's a good idea - I'm not a big fan of westerns but given the word of mouth, I wanted to check out the first few episodes. Thought I would have to wait for a re-airing on HBO. I totally forgot about OD.

I would definitely buy this! This is one of the best western shows I have ever seen.

Time to push directv to get OD version of HBO.

Yep, $100 for this 12-episode show? Band of Brothers for its 10 episodes was expensive as well. I assume Sopranos are expensive as well. Isn't Oz an HBO production too?

Band of Brothers was well worth the money, IMO. Deadwood is the only other HBO show I'd consider buying on DVD due to the price, although I enjoy many HBO shows.

Lower the price, more people will buy. Too bad they haven't figured that out yet. I'd probably be more inclined to buy HBO sets if the price were around $50.

you will be able to get this for $60-65 on preorders....hardly a rip off for a great show and 12 hours of entertainment, including some great extras. This is the same list as the Sopranos, and i've not paid more than $60 for any of those.

I love this show, but I'll wait for a deal. I got ALL my Sopranos for under $50 and they counted towards recieving free CDs or DVDs. I also paid $55 for Band of Brothers brand new (it was a Blind Buy at the time, but after having seen it, id pay double to own it!). I'll do the same here.
