I for one really enjoyed the flick for what it was: mindless popcorn fun. I will definitely be picking this one up, I was hoping for a nice quick turn around (the mummy flicks both hit dvd in late sept/early oct)... DTS would rule... please universal... DTS!

Great silly fun, I'll prolly pick this one up. The Werewolves were truly kick ass (& the best part of the film, IMHO). Being able to see them again is worth the price of the disc alone

Loved this movie. It followed the summer movie formula and I took it just for that... a summer flick. Will definately pick this one up.

Will this be the David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar version?

Im a little confused, so the 3 Disc includes an old Frankenstein, Dracula, and Wolf Man movie? a Single movie for each or is Van helsing just packed w/ the Monster Legacy set? Hopefully this doesn't mess up people who already bought the monster sets and want the 3 disc Van Helsing......im perplexed, lol.

I believe the 3 disc edition is a 2 disc Van Helsing with just the original Wolf Man, Frankenstein, and Dracula on disc 3.

Here's what we'll do: you, Groucho, twikoff, Matt Milheiser, me and several other DVDTalkers watch the film and comment. We record our comments and one of us edits it into one tight commentary. Geoff hosts it for download.

It's genius, I tell you!

Alright, it's a silly idea but it could work, I tell you...

(That last line also happened to be the argument Sommers gave Universal when they questioned his idea... )

I'll get it. I don't see myself getting the three disc though, as I already have the legacy set. Interesting that the whole purpose of the set was to promote VH, and anyone who loved those movies would most likely despize what VH did with the creatures.

This is a very unjust release. The three disc is retailing for $55! That is so unreasonable. If I want for special features I have to dish out 25 for dollars and get 3 movies I already own from the Legacy collection. What is Universal thinking?

Come on guys. This movie wasn't that bad. Not as bad as the biggest crap movie of all time, Lost In Translation (that movie sucked major ass). I found Van Helsing to be entertaining to watch at least.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. But I suspect that Universal had 2 separate target markets... they probably expected the release of VH to spark the interest of older consumers in the old classics. They would gravitate towards the Legacy Collections. Whereas VH is targeted at a younger market that wouldn't mind getting the original film but not want to dish out the dough for all the classics.

I don't think they expected to have many consumers interested in both Legacy and VH.

I'm just curious if anyone else is as disappointed as I am with the cover art for Van Helsing. Considering the context of the movie and the theme, the cover seems to "bright"... Heck, I'm almost waiting for the von Trapp family to show up somewhere in the picture.

Does anybody know if they are going to release a Directors Cut? It sure has it written all over it.
