Sounds good.
The film was blown up to 35mm from 16mm, but that doesn't mean it has to look like spam in a can.
Today's technology is MORE than adequate to clean up the grain a bit and sharpen the image. Look at what Lowry is doing in the 4K front and you can see just how much grain can be cleaned up. Citizen Kane and North by Northwest look like they were TOO crisp - they're a little "flat" looking because of their lack of visible grain.

They actually mention her outfit in the scene. But why are the new scenes in color? I would hope they would be black and white if they're going to be a part of the film.

I guess improved transfer and anamorphic is a waste now?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They can't do that with the new cut of the film?

I don't see why anybody would think it was a "waste" to put something on which takes up *no* space ... which is to say, if the extended cut is on the DVD, the theatrical is *already* there if they branch it. (Ok, granted, it's gonna take up a bit of space to make it seamless.)
But why are the new scenes in color? I would hope they would be black and white if they're going to be a part of the film.

From the VA boards today:
Quote:
Will new commentaries be recorded for Clerks X DVD?
A new one has been recorded already, with Jeff, Brian, Mos, Mewes and me. It's pretty good. Glad to have Jeff on there, as he wasn't around for the first one (which will also be included on the new disc).
---
I'd suggest that this also means the theatrical cut is pretty much definite (as definite as can be until Miramax makes it "official"), as putting the old commentary onto a new cut wouldn't work.
He also said "Jersey Girl"'s commentary includes Mewes, which intrigues me...

My point is that I'd rather them not waste disc space on it. Like my statement above. If you are a K. Smith fan 99% of you already own it. Does 1 extra dvd really take up that much space? And also like stated above it has been out for quite some time and is pretty cheap so I don't think double-dipping isn't a huge deal. Leave out theatrical and fill it with features. Or do seamless branching with the new scenes.

Somebody was saying that just putting the original on through seamless branching as they intend to do is a waste (even though he went on to say that they *should* do seamless branching ... he seemed really confused about what he actually believed).
I'm not confused about anything. Re-read my post. I don't think my post is all that confusing. If they don't do seamless branching I don't think they should waste the disc space on the theatrical cut since most everyone already owns the film. If they don't do seamless branching, they will have 2 whole versions of the film taking up disc space. Plain and simple.

I want the theatrical cut & commentary on there so i can sell my old one.
I'd rather have 1 version of a film taking up shelf space rather than 2

From newsaskew today:
USA TODAY reports that the Clerks X DVD will arrive in stores a week earlier than we'd been reporting. The date is now OFFICIALLY September 7, 2004, a week before Jersey Girl's first DVD release. This set not only celebrates Clerks, but also View Askew's 10 years in the film business, and thus is the largest set to ever arrive. At a whopping THREE DVDs, it's now confirmed that there will be two full versions of the film (the original and extended cuts), Kevin and Scott's first film "Mae Day", and heaps more. Here's the article:
'Clerks' anniversary edition does overtime
To mark the anniversary of Kevin Smith's debut film, Miramax is releasing a three-disc Clerks: 10th Anniversary Edition (Sept. 7, $29.99) with two versions of the movie: the theatrical release and the original, which is about 10 minutes longer and has a new commentary from Smith and cast members.
Other extras include a documentary about the film; audition tapes; an animated missing scene; Smith's student film project, Mae Day: The Crumbling of a Documentary; and some of his journals.
"I found the journal I kept at Sundance, so they're putting that in," Smith says. "It's wide-eyed, so-this-is-the-movie-business kind of stuff."
Original rumors had the long-awaited "Oh, What A Lovely Tea Party" Jay & Bob Strike Back documentary film included, however it remains to be seen whether that will indeed be a part of this set or a future View Askew DVD release. With the release just a few short months away, expect a full feature list (as well as an early look at the entire set) soon.

As deleted scenes aren't bonus items themselves, are all the deletes (including the darker ending) in the IFFM First Cut?
