Wow.

I never heard about the live action TV show before. That's nuts.

This will be one heck of a release. I'm very glad they are going all out for this one. It'll be impressive.

The new cut is confirmed.. they are even animating the "lost scene" where Dante and Randall go to the funeral, among other things.

Am I the only one who thinks this opinion is irrelevant to the topic at hand, and would more properly add to a Movie Talk discussion?

Cool. I'm assuming it will be the same scene as it appeared in the Clerks comic book?

Sweet! Kevin Smith has a great track record of jam-packing his Special Edition DVD releases. I can't wait for this one!

As a general rule, I don't double dip much, but my Canadian copy plays like crap, so I'm there.

I know the new cut is confirmed (and the animated "lost scene" will be a bonus feature), but will the theatrical cut be included? I remember when the news of the details first broke out, the new extended cut was mentioned, but nothing was made of the original theatrical cut. The cut we all fell in love with in 1994.

So you should've wrote:

Extended Cut/New Commentary (confirmed)
Original Cut/Commentary (unconfirmed)

But Kevin is in touch with his fans, plus as a Star Wars fan I'm sure he's seen the pre-pubescent crap flying all over the "internet" about the upcoming Star Wars DVD, so I'm sure he'll put the original on there. But until we get word.. (holds on to original DVD).

Well, if you are that big of a fan you already own the original theatrical cut. And if not, like mentioned, you can probably get it for under $10.

Definite double dip for me, and unless 100% of the original features are included on the 3D, I will not sell off my original one.

3D is a nice touch. Worked for Panic Room. Hopefully Fincher started a trend.

If it doesn't have the theatrical cut, it'd be great to have an empty tray in the case to put our existing discs, much like how the U2 1990-2000 dvd had an empty tray to put the cd's bonus dvd.

X-Entertainment, or maybe Whatever-Dude, got a hold of the TV pilot a while back and did a write-up on it...sounded double-A-trocious. AWESOME if they get it on the 10th anniversary set. Niiiiiiiice.

Later.

Is it really considered a "double dip" if more than 4 years separate the releases?

Kevin Smith has said (more than once, I believe) that he intends for all the stuff from the original to be on the new discs.

Now, technically, Miramax could nix this if there's a space issue or something, but I do think Miramax and he have a good enough relationship that they'll do whatever it is he wants, especially since he probably has his fingers closer to the pulse of his fans than any other director working today.

Well, if you are that big of a fan you already own the original theatrical cut.
It's my favorite of his films, I think it's one of the funniest films of all time, but after all my DVDs were stolen, I didn't bother to replace that one because I knew a new one was on the way. Thus, your blanket statement is wrong.

And some people don't like to have to own multiple versions of the same title just to have all the cuts which have ever been available. I'm strongly considering buying the old 'Good, the Bad, and the Ugly' disc now that I've watched the new one, because the new dubbing is *that* horrible...

but that's a topic for another thread, I suppose.

Okay. Stolen wouldn't fall under my statement, but I think the other 99.9% of the population would.

My point is that I'd rather them not waste disc space on it. Like my statement above. If you are a K. Smith fan 99% of you already own it. Does 1 extra dvd really take up that much space? And also like stated above it has been out for quite some time and is pretty cheap so I don't think double-dipping isn't a huge deal. Leave out theatrical and fill it with features. Or do seamless branching with the new scenes.

16mm is usually by default grainy. Unless Miramax is willing to blow a few million, I'm sure the transfer will include grain.

I guess improved transfer and anamorphic is a waste now?

Seamless branching may work depending on how different the cut is.. and it could very well be what they plan on doing.
