Happy Gilmore finally coming wide in r1!
Hopefully. Davisdvd.com reports that Universal is releasing a 2 pack of new special editions of this along with Billy Madison. It lists seperate anamorphic widescreen and full screen sets. It has no specs as of yet, so hopefully it is not just 1 set with happy in full and billy in wide as they are already available.

Interesting. SE for these two. I have both, still sealed. Will probably try to return them or sell them before this SE set comes out, and get the set.
Thanks for the info!

Yes I definately hope these are true special editions (like DavisDVD said). Commentary tracks, 5.1 for HG, deleted scenes (some were shown on the TV versions) and of course the biggest feature WIDESCREEN HG. I'm buying!

Here is the blurb from davisdvd.com:
Just announced from Universal Studios Home Video is The Happy Gilmore/Billy Madison Collection, a set due on August 31st and featuring new special editions of the two Adam Sandler films. No details have been released yet other than the fact that the collection will be released in separate anamorphic widescreen and fullscreen editions. Retail on each will be $27.98.
So, the street date is 08/31. That's good. But then it says retail on each is $27.98. So, we are not talking about a boxed set? Anyone have opinions?

Thanks for that. After I re-read it, I see that you are correct, and that is what they meant.
When I read it the first time I thought they meant that they were including Fullscreen and WS on the same disc.
Thanks again! Feel much better now!

I did exactly what you stated with Angel Heart, Good Bad and the Ugly, and will be doing it with Goodfellas and a few others.
Worst case scenario you are out a couple bucks because you decided to buy back the original due to a problem with the disc.

Yay, it's about time. Glad I held off on buying these 2.
Curiously these both went out of print on the same day, 3/28/2004, so I knew they were coming sooner or later. Sooner is better!
Also, Apollo 13 went OOP the same day, so I'm waiting for a re-release of that too. C'mon, announce it already!
But, it IS Universal, so I'm not getting my hopes up yet. Will have to make sure they don't muck these up before I buy them. I'll let the rest of you be the guinea pigs, okay?
Cheers!

Yeah, hopefully they are both anamorphic widescreen and problem free. As for extras, all I can see are commentaries and I really want the extra scenes shot for television. I like how Ben Stiller gets what he deserves in the HG tv version. I also like the extra kick ball scene in BM.
