Some people just have a chip on their shoulders about Criterions, I guess.

Well, I'm up to 49 AFI Top 100, and 33 Best PIcture Winners (out of 76).

Nope - just collect movies I like instead of a list of what somebody else says is good. Some I have are on those lists but most aren't.

I collect them both (are you surprised Daniel L?) and am missing only those that have not been released on DVD in a proper edition. Holding out on The Sting and Chariots of Fire until they re-release these in widescreen.

I have actually expanded my list as well... I now collect all Best Picture nominees as well, because as stated before, they don't always pick the best one but usually one of the 5 is the best and they are usually all good or interesting. I'm also collecting Best Actor, Actress, Director and Cinematography. A great way to experience the best the film world has to offer...

Nice threadcrap!

Anyway, in my opinion, collecting all the AFI 100 movies (or whatever) is fun (for me) and relatively economical, and (since of course I watch them all) I see some great movies I might've never watched otherwise.
