Hercules Season 6 DVD 7.12.205
The 6th and final season of this hit fantasy series was released this week on DVD. I trucked down to my local Best Buy and picked up the set. I have to admit, both Hercules and Xena (laugh all you want) are guilty pleasures of mine.
I don't know what drew me to either series, other than the chop-socky nature of it all. I like simplicity and most of all, I like shows that don't require a whole lot of brain power. Both brought that to TV screen.
I have to say that I've purchased other shows on DVD and none of them seem to compare to the quantity of supplements that Anchor Bay/Davis Anderson provide on the discs.
The audio is okay, it's 5.1 Surround. Although, it's not true 5.1 sound. The sound doesn't sound as rich as shows that were actually encoded with 5.1 surround. The video has it's moments where it gets pixely, a standard for all Renassiance Pictures TV shows (Xena, Cleo, Young Hercules, etc). Poor film quality. Although it is better than previous seasons.
The extras. There are alternate opening titles, the last part of special featurette on the monsters used in the series, and a featurette on the wrap party.
Here is what is on the set:
• Audio Commentaries and Interviews with Kevin Sorbo, Michael Hurst, Paul Robert Coyle and Other Cast and Crew Members
• Featurette: “Bringing Monsters To Life At K.N.B 2FX Group – Part 3”
• Photo Gallery
• “It’s A Wrap” – Wrap Party
• Final Episode – “Behind The Scenes”
• Hercules Original Series Promo
• Hercules Main Titles – Alternate/Never Used Titles
• CD-ROM features including:
o Hercules Chronicles
o Actor, Director & Writer Bios
o Series Trivia
o Mythology

I've got the entire run of both Xena and Hercules except this 6th and final season. Gonna wait till next month to order it.
Anyway...I haven't yet to watch all of Xena Season 5 and 6 along with Herc Season 5. Got way behind on these sets to watch '24' and some other shows.
I'm about to finish up one series tonight though, and I may have to start watching them. But then again I've got three other sets that I've started watching that I haven't finished up yet. Man, I'm getting way behind. Spending too much time on the Internet downloading porn I guess.
