They seem to have cut back on the extras with the August releases (no commentaries, no Biography episodes, ...). I wonder if this is being done to save money. Oh, well, as long as the transfers are done properly, I won't complain.

Reviews indicate commentaries have been included on 2 of the releases in the latest wave:

"Man in the Grey Flannel Suit" extras:

commentary by author James Monaco
Movietone Newsreel - 1956 Premiere
Still Gallery
Restoration Comparison
Movie Trailer

"Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte" extras:

commentary by DVD Savant Glenn Erickson
teaser and theatrical trailers
TV spots

"In Old Chicago" extras:

Roadshow (111 minutes) version
Theatrical (95 minutes) version
A&E Biography - Don Ameche (44 min)
Movietone Newsreels - Hollywood Spotlight, Hollywood Spotlight 2, Along Broadway, Chicago (total length about 5 minutes)

Nice to see that for the most part, Fox is continuing to offer commentaries. I will still be getting "In Old Chicago."

Gregory Peck rules. I'm getting The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit. And Bette Davis was a pretty ugly chick. Was she supposed to be pretty?

Not in Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte.

You should check out some of her '30s work sometime. Hubba, hubba.

Check her out in The Petrified Forest (a GREAT movie, by the way). She was VERY pretty back then. She did not, however, age well at all...

What is the status on A Tree Grows in Brooklyn?

I'm asking this for my older brother since he loved this movie. Cameron's big August list show that is suppose to come out on August 9, but Amazon does not show that coming out on that date. So what the deal then? My brother really what this badly.

Ah yes, those beloved classics.

C'mon Fox, are you kidding me? How about some Frank Borzage? Some John Ford? Some Frank Tashlin? You know, some actual classics?

Amen. Fox continues to underwhelm.

I love Charlotte as much as anyone, but it's not a "classic" in the sense most people would define it.

I disagree. In Old Chicago is the only questionable choice in this wave.

It's totally a camp classic.

I am glad to see Fox releasing some of its classic musicals - and though "Orchestra Wives" was not high on my list - one of the extras is a commentary by two surviving cast members. Rare these days for anything made before 1950, and enough of an incentive that I may pick it up.

Now if they would only release a Sonja Henie musical!

Has this line been replaced by the Fox "Cinema Classics Collection"?

So they released 37 titles plus Sunrise. Is the Cinema Classics Collection also numbered?

It doesn't look like the Fox Studio Classics has been replaced by the Fox Cinema Classics Collection after all.

Being released July 11 2006 as part of the Studio Classics line are:

The Black Swan
The Keys of the Kingdom
The River’s Edge

Does anyone know if "The Barbarian and The Geisha (1959)" is getting the Fox Studio Classics treatment? I believe the film has been released in the R2 format recently...

Davisdvd.com seems to have mistaken in the labeling of this releases. According to DVDEmpire and DVDTimes.co.uk, these DVDs are part of the Fox Cinema Classics collection, no the Studio Classics.

So, what's the difference between a Studio Classic and a Cinema Classic? I thought they just re-branded until they released 3 more Studio Classics earlier this year.
