It reminds me of Men In Black DE. Nothing much new except in a new packaging in order to cash in when Spidy 2 hits the screen.
I may probably considering rebuying this DVD if it's a Superbit Deluxe Edition (for the DTS). |

wow! I did NOT know that there was a commentary track on the superbit release!
Are there other SBs with commentary tracks?! I thought they "couldn't fit them" on the discs... |
I am going to "Stick" with my 1st SpiderMan Release.
Double dipping sends me up a wall. |

This would be the ONLY thing to get me to dip again for this title. Later, Randy B A |
WIll the deluxe edition have DTS or is that only going to be on the Superbit?
|
According to these specs, the Deluxe Edition is just the same as the old version. There was some reports that it would have a bonus third disc though.
So no, the Deluxe Edition doesn't have DTS. |
It really does look like the Spider-Man Deluxe Edition is going to be similar to the Men in Black Deluxe Edition. Everythings the same except new packaging and a preview for the sequel.
|
Getting the Superbit for the DTS. I've been holding off buying the J R2 version so this will be a welcome addition. Would have preferred a Superbit Deluxe though...
|
The Superbit will have a new commentary (well, new to DVD) with Spidey himself, and may or may not include a DTS audio track.
|
jough, why do you say it may or may not have a DTS track? DTS tracks are big selling points for Superbit (although I would prefer the redundant DTS track be left off so greater bits can be used for the video).
|
Some sites are listing a DTS track and others say that there won't be one.
There's nothing on CTS's site about it either way. So I guess we'll have to wait and see. |
The article on IGN DVD says that both versions will have DTS.
|
Actually, there is a picture of the back of the Spider-Man Superbit posted here and it indicates DTS if you look closely.

The Superbit HAS the DTS and the commentary track for no good ****-ING reason. I'm so angry with Columbia right now.

As it happens, there's an ad for this disc in this week's Video Business. Please excuse the quality - my scanner isn't working so I had to use a digital camera:
http://jough.com/dvdfile/spidey.jpg As you can see, the Deluxe Edition is just the old 2-disc set, packaged in a cardboard sleeve with a third disc containing new extras (the extent of which wasn't listed). So the Deluxe Edition obviously doesn't have a new transfer or any new features on the first and second disc - it's exactly the same. No DTS on the original disc, so no DTS on the Deluxe Edition. The Superbit (also in the ad, in a smaller block below which I didn't photograph) will indeed feature both a new commentary track as well as a DTS audio track. |
Oh, and both new versions will include a free movie ticket to see Spiderman 2.
|
commentary on a superbit? CT is going against their standards, SB titles should not include any extras (only on second disc in deluxe packages), only a DD+dts track in original language + subs. Why Tobey's commentary is on the SB disc only but not on the deluxe disc evades me :( Not that I listen to commentaries but ... still anyoing of them [/rant]
|
Oh, and both new versions will include a free movie ticket to see Spiderman 2. jough --- did that ad state that the Superbit contains an actual new transfer? Another Web site stated this, but I wanted to make sure. All in all, I was never completely happy with the current transfer. Honestly, I think we should be happy there is no difference between the Deluxe version and current version. Really, it only makes one disc to upgrade to get just about "everything." For myself, I don't care about extras -- just video and audio -- so the Superbit is a no-brainer for me. |
God! Spiderman doesnt deserve any special treatment at all, it is over rated pants.
I want Resident Evil, 3 dvd version! as my German 2 dvd speaicl edition is the best at the moment in the world, but want more! as good treatment as crappy Spiderman is getting, at least. |
Well, crappy for you, but my favorite movie that year when it came out. Personally, I'm extremely happy it is getting this treatment. I've been a Spidey fan since the late 70s, and I was extremely pleased with the movie, even if there were changes to the characters.
|
question, i remeber hearing about the commentary on tv. how did that work, was this fans asking questions to tobey or tobey just mentioning his thoughts as he watched teh movie.
