I've heard that Heroes of Horror is great. It's a 2 disc set that profiles Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney, Jr., Peter Lorre and Vincent Price.

Btw- Just ordered mine from DDD for $14.63

I have the "Monster Mania" 3 part series that AMC aired. Monster Mania, Bride of Monster Mania and Attack of the 50 FT Monster Mania. All 3 can be had from DeepDiscountDVD for under $50

TCM showed a documentary, UNIVERSAL HORROR, narrated by Kenneth Branagh a few years ago, but it does not seem to be available on DVD (or VHS).

I have this and it's not a bad set. They're just the specials from Biography, though. A lot of interesting stuff had to be skimmed over since they're only 45 minutes each.

This is an amazing two-hour documentary that I once had on tape when I first got exposed to classic horror in 1997. Unfortunately, I saw fit to tape over it with classic horror like Dracula and The Mummy. D'oh! I've yet to see it on TV since, but I remember it being an essential to horror fans. Very informative and I still regret taping over it for stuff I would later go on to tape over, as well.

I picked up THE MUMMY in the bargain bin at Borders (I think.) It is hosted by Christopher Lee, and is from Passport Video. The main program is 1 hour long, and "takes an in-depth look at mummies, zombies, adn the walking dead of Hollywood's Golden Age." It also has short footage and newsreels of King Tut's Tomb and Tomb of Luxor, a featurette of Omega Man, and The Mummy Strikes (Superman cartoon,) totalling ~42 minutes.

could you post the upc and the price....so i can go in the store and find it

littlefuzzy 02-07-05 09:26 PM

I've had it for quite a while, but the UPC is... VERY TINY!!

I mean, 0 (25493 90102) 3. Try the part in parentheses first.

DVD Price Search has it as Mummy (Documentary) and there are a few stores that carry it, although it appears to be discontinued.

thanks...i will take a look around for it.

It's available, but apparently only with the R2 release of the Monster Legacy Collection (see here).

Cameron 02-08-05 08:10 AM

is it on a disc by itself or on one of the monster disc....just wondering if i can order it stand alone

John Hodson 02-08-05 09:26 AM

AFAIK it is only available as part of the set right now Cameron.

Cameron 02-14-05 03:09 AM

anyone willing to break up their box set????

I want to see this again

Cameron 08-26-05 12:19 AM

can anyone tell me which disc it is on....i was going to import, but didn't want to rebuy all 3

Cameron 11-18-05 01:23 AM

bump for above question

John Hodson 11-18-05 03:24 AM

Cameron, from what I can glean it looks like the documentary is on a disc by iteself in this set; that's the bad news, the good news is that Amazon seem to have it on special offer right now, and they are all single sided discs (more good news if you have problems with DVD 18s, though little compensation if you have all the R1 releases, I know...)
