Hopefully, The Golden Girls is still on for 11/30, but I don't think it's been announced yet. The Nanny was supposed to come out on 8/10, but was postponed indefinitely.

Don't they still air it on Lifetime (AKA TV for women and gay men)?

Sure, there's no point in getting a DVD if they still show it on TV...

People who own Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Star Trek, The Simpsons, and any of a number of other series on DVD would disagree.

For one thing, almost all TV shows are edited by a few minutes when they are sold into syndication to allow for more commercials.

I thought icruise was being sarcastic.

There are several reasons to buy DVDs of shows that are still on TV. As Mr. Salty mentioned, they're uncut, but also, you can watch any episode you want, whenever you want. And more and more TV-on-DVD sets come with some nice extras too.

I don't mean this as a threadcrap, because I know several people who would be interested in these, but: have we really been speculating forever on the DVD release of these two series?

But to add to the mix: how about "The Golden Castle?"

D'oh, the Golden Palace. Well, that's one of those "I'm embarassed I got it wrong, but secretly, kind of relieved" type of errors.

You know, it doesn't matter how fat, ugly, old, et al a person is...just as long as they are good in the sack everything will be a-o-kay.

And you know that Blanche would do you long time.

Conscience - I am also NOT gay and love The Golden Girls. The show is hysterical, I don't care what anyone says. It is unfortunate for whatever reason it has been labeled a "gay" show (no offense to any gay person reading this). I truly hate stereotypes and all that comes with them. Why can't a show just be good for the masses? I also like Beavis and Butthead, but that doesn't make me a moron

I was browsing Amazon tonight and saw that the Golden Girls First Season is currently number 8 on the DVD top sellers list. Am I the only one surprised it is doing that well? It's even beating the much hyped Seinfeld series DVD preorders. I don't know how it is doing at other stores but the Amazon sales rank was definitely a shock to me. Especially since none of my many STL friends has purchased it, but it appears almost all of them have purchased Seinfeld. And I usually get a lot of STL emails for most of the top sellers.
