Where's Bob Newhart Show DVD???

Am I the only one here pining for The Bob Newhart Show to be realeased on DVD?? This is one of only a handful of shows I would religiously collect all seasons!

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that it won't be released anytime soon, since The Mary Tyler Moore Show Season One, didn't sell very well - from what I've heard!

Any info regarding this??

I've heard the same thing as you. The MTM failure doomed this.

I still think that if MTM had been priced a tad more reasonably, it would have done better. I have S1 and would buy the others.

Incidentally, Fox was running a poll about what TV shows to release and Bob's '80s "Newhart" show was among the choices receiving a good number of votes.

I'd love both NEWHART and THE BOB NEWHART SHOW to see the (DVD) light of day. I think Bob Newhart's shows would fare better than MTM... just a broader appeal, I guess.

I'm glad they finally decided to put this show on retail DVD. Yes, that's right, it has been available for some time now. It's been available only for insomnia clinics, who use this show to make their sever insomnia patients actually bored enough to fall asleep by watching this.

I might have to bite on this one. It wasn't my favorite on Nick-at-Nite at the time, but I could usually find humor in each episode.

When did the original show start hitting its stride? Wondering whether or not the first season was all that great. Love the show, just don't remember which seasons were better.

I think it was actually one of those shows that always had it going on. It got better as time went on, but I remember the first season being on par with much of the series.

Will definately be picking this up, and have my fingers crossed that it will spawn the 80s Newhart to come out soon as well. We shall see!

I found Newhart on 31 DVD's, very good video quality at www.bestdvdentertainmentonline.com under the comedy section. Don't do a search for it because it will show out of stock for some reason but if you simply click on the comedy section on the left side it is in there.

Since this was bumped, the question that I have is where is season 5? They haven't released anything since 9/2006. It's one of the funniest shows of all time so I certainly hope they continue.

Please Note: This is not a box set. You will receive 31 DVDs with all 184 episodes. We do not do fancy artwork or plastic cases. Discs are simply labeled and each DVD is contained in a paper or plastic dvd sleeve to protect it from scratches. Your collection is then packaged carefully for shipping.

Re: Where's Bob Newhart Show DVD???

I never understood why FOX used double-sided discs for the BOB NEWHART SHOW.
They should have used the same package as the MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW.

Just happy the show is going to continue on DVD and hoping Green Acres can see the same fate soon.

It would be nice if both this and Newhart were completed on DVD...

Goddammit, I wish they would stop doing this. No two final seasons on DVD... unless you buy the upcoming complete series set.

That does suck, but they may end up releasing them separately. Despite this being one of my favorite shows, I never found the original seasons cheap enough to buy more than one, so I'm down for the complete set.
