I don't understand why the current DVD of Sling Blade is sooo pricey (about $25.00), and it isn't anything but the movie itself.
I would love to see an SE that includes Some Folks Call It A Sling Blade, the short film that inspired the feature film.

Criterion released a Sling Blade SE on laserdisc, so there is already material available if they can work out a deal w/Disney.
I'm sure any eventual SE would include the original short... but that is also already on two different DVDs currently available:

I have the Japanese R2 Sling Blade release. it's 16x9 enhanced and has the "Mr. Thorton goes to Hollywood" short featurette, a coupla trailers and production notes and star profiles (in japanese however).
If you have a region free player, you should try and search this out.

According to the "Big DVD List" at http://dvdlist.kazart.com/DVDList2.php , Sling Blade has recently gone out of print. Perhaps a SE is on the way (?)

I have the current release. Something is better than nothing.
Just an anamorphic update would do me.
Oh and there's no better Sling Blade spoof than the one on the Swingers DVD

This was actually the first DVD I bought, back in 1998. I was lucky enough to find the Criterion LD for 7 bucks recently. The bonus features are very nice, but I'd happily buy my third copy of this movie if an anamorphic version is released.

This upcoming year is going to be a big last ditch effort on revisiting any title studios think they can get some more profit from before the next format hits so expect this will be one of them.
