Just how "unrated" is the unrated version of Old School?
I never saw it in theaters and was wondering how unrated we get with this version plus its the only way to see the movie in widescreen.
|
From what I've heard, it's not that much unrated. Awhile ago when the specs were announced, I heard that there were only a few extra minutes. When you ask how unrated it gets, if you were plan on showing this movie to your kids or something... not a good idea. But this movie wasn't as bad as some of these R movies have been in the past: ie Van Wilder, Not Another Teen Movie, or Road Trip.
But this movie was definitley the funniest of 2003 so far. Will Ferrell is so outageous. I imagine that the unrated version would have some more Will Ferrell material along with the occasional topless chick. :-) |
I believe it's completely unrated. Much like the video I recently shot of my kids playing in the park.
Unrated simply means that it's going to include content that was not submitted, well, for rating. It doesn't necessarily imply anything about said content. |
I think you get to see a little more of that

You get to see 2 more minutes of Ferral's schlong.

Rypro's on the hunt for spank material. ;)

According to the review on this site, the DVD has a menu which contains nudity. Otherwise, there is only one or two minutes or so of extra footage...
|
I watched the unrated version two days ago - I didn't notice anything that I didn't remember from when I saw it in the theater.
If this "unrated" version were to be submited for a rating, it would easily get an R. |
Originally posted by Aphex Twin I'd hit it! Anyway, should be a good DVD. Seems like it came out fast, too. I like that. |
Ill be getting this for sure :)

Its probably just a few seconds more of

Just saw the unrated version and there seems to be no difference from the theatrical version of the film. Its probably just the nudity on the menus.

Will Walmart carry this version then?

It doesn't matter how unrated it is, it's still one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, and I will buy no matter what (unless it were only FS, but we know that's not that fact) so I will be buying it. Will Ferrell is the funniest person out there today (lets hope he does succomb to the SNL curse, if you're funny you die (i.e. Farley, Belushi, etc.))
|
Since it seems that best buy has a 2 for 25 if you buy road trip as well, are there any "unrated" scene's? The only reason is becaue I got American Pie unrated and there is about 30 seconds of new footage.

Originally posted by tofu Will Walmart carry this version then? It doesn't matter how tame the unrated version is. They will not carry it. Just look at the last few rated & unrated releases. Thet carried the rated versions only. WM sucks big time! Now another reason to get the unrated version(other than it being uncut) is the R version is in P&S only from what was reported awhile back. So only a moron would go for the R rated version! |

Anout the unrated thing. Look at Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. The unrated version is the family version, but then the PG-13 version is the one with more stuff in it.

I hate all of these "Unrated" titles just to sell more titles to horny youths. Some others that come to mind are Saving Silverman, American Pie and Van Wilder. The 1 minute extra makes little difference to any of these movies.
|
I do prefer the R rated cover art though.

We can only pray that the extra footage contains more Elisha Cuthbert

The 1 minute extra makes little difference to any of these movies. Yet stuff like Basic Instinct is worth seeing the unrated version. As the added footage really adds to the film & this is how it was always meant. Same thing with Jason Goes To Hell with it's extreme amount of over the top gore all of which was cut out of the pathetic R rated version. same goes for the great splatter comedy Dead Alive. It's worthless in R rated form. So unrated is not always a 'gimmick'. You just have to know where to look..& which films truely had huge amounts cut for ratings reasons. Many mainstream stuff seems to have seconds cut(American Pie) more than anything. Still unrated is better than nothing. So if your looking for 'graphic' 'sexually explicit' footage or 'more gore' in the majority of mainstream 'unrated' releases. You will always be sorely disapointed as proven by the likes of American Pie among others. Speaking of unrated comedies. If Di$ney did not have that pathetic policy against unrated/NC-17 releases. I would be interested in seeing a unrated version of Scary Movie. Tons of stuff was cut from that to avoid a NC-17! Now i can't wait for the unrated House of 1000 Corpes which should have plenty of footage added:) |
