question, are the dubtitles that bad indeed? i was thinking of renting the dvd, not buying but its very likely that they will have the old version of the dvd. i am not a french speaker, so i won't notice bad subs.

Depends what you mean by bad. They change a few things, for no reason, so the words are closer to the lip movements of the actors. I gave some examples in this thread before.

IMHO, it's not an exact translation, but such a thing is impossible. Could they be closer? yes. I don't think it's that important though, it's stupid, but it won't effect your enjoyment of the film. They're "saying" different things, but meaning the same thing, listening to the original actors shows the emotion and character is where most of language comes from, IMHO. For fun, watch the movie, then watch the movie's trailer, which contains accurate subtitles.

If you're just renting, it's not a big deal. I say go for it.
