My top 3 needed films on DVD are Over the Edge, Pirate Movie, Dogs in Space and The Chocolate War.

This list is missing Taras Bulba with Tony Curtis and Yul Brenner.

Hell yes. I saw this film over ten years ago and still find myself thinking about it.

Just set the f-stops.

"...Our goal is to have no "unreleased" list at all!...

...what about the wealth of back-catalog movies from, say, the Twentieth Century Fox library? Such titles as the (Technicolor) FOREVER AMBER, CAPTAIN FROM CASTILE, BLOOD AND SAND, LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN, THE BLUE BIRD, WILSON, HEAVEN CAN WAIT, or the epic (b&w) ANNA AND THE KING OF SIAM or THE KEYS OF THE KINGDOM, or the silly but enjoyable (Technicolor) BETTY GRABLE MUSICALS?...

...the (Technicolor) Kurt Weill musical LADY IN TE DARK starring GINGER ROGERS is another 'biggie' that comes to (my) mind...

(...of course these are all 1940s movies most if not all of the young whippersnappers reading this forum will have never heard of...)

...what about the (1930s) movies MARLENE DIETRICH made with VON STERNBERG (afaik only THE SCARLET EMPRESS is currently available, from Criterion)...

...for that matter: what of just about any 1930s/1940s movie starring Ms. Dietrich, or JOAN CRAWFORD, or LANA TURNER, or GENE TIERNEY, or INGRID BERGMAN, or RITA HAYWORTH, or GRETA GARBO or JOHN WAYNE, or CLARK GABLE, or CARY GRANT, or...

...sigh...

Also Interstate 60 (2002) had a very limited theater release and have not seen any release dates on DVD.

According to dvdpricesearch.com, Interstate 60 will be released in October to the US. However, It is 4:3 and only Dolby 2.0. In Sweden (R2) they have a 16:9 5.1 release of the film.

funkymonk: missing..... Shock to the System (1990)

I have the not very good UK disc -it's widescreen- but it's still worth getting as this film is excellent and it's better than VHS. One of my favourite Michale Caine films.

The Australian disc seems to be the same release.

Finally today, word from retailers is that Paramount's working on Cool World, Fairytale: A True Story, Joseph Andrews, King David, The Last Tycoon, Oliver's Story, Pretty Baby, The Out-of-Towners, The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Plaza Suite, Star Spangled Girl and, of course, Once Upon a Time in the West for November. And among the titles in the works for December are The Great Gatsby, Hud, This Property is Condemned, Wuthering Heights (1992) and Young Sherlock Holmes.

I never thought that this title would see the light of day. We shall see!

Tom Sawyer

These:

Tom Sawyer (1938)

Tom Sawyer (1973)

boe 07-23-03 09:42 AM

This is a great list. I think it would be good to have anchored at the top of the forum. Do you think you could change the part about Remo Williams which is now released to Remo Williams - WideScreen since many of us are waiting for them to do this movie right?

Thanks

Promised Land is set for 10/28.

Update posted today.

I tried emailing to request this thread be made a sticky, but I got no response. Perhaps if you guys also sent an email request in to the mods? Maybe then they'd see there was a demand?

mookiemeister 08-12-03 10:53 AM

Anyone know if Letter from an Unknown Woman (1948)
will be released on DVD anytime soon? It's not on the list of unreleased DVD. Just wondering...

rkndkn 08-12-03 05:02 PM

It appears "Star!" has been postponed with no new date announced.

mrpayroll 08-25-03 03:45 PM

You may want to update the release date on this:

The big fourth quarter holiday season continues to heat up with the first major street date change. Originally scheduled for a November 4th release, The Indiana Jones Chronicles has been bumped up two weeks to October 21st courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment. Specs and retail price remain the same, and what a nice little early Christmas present...

abintra 08-26-03 12:08 AM

The date on Promised Land says 8/26 but Amazon says 10/21.

abintra 08-27-03 03:22 AM

Question: would it be possible to include the titles that have been given a release date seperately at the beginning of the post for easy scanning?

Jadzia 09-02-03 11:24 PM

I posted an update today.

I sorted the already-announed titles out by date and placed them at the top, in order of the date. How does this work for everyone? I'd love to get some feedback before I decide what the best format would be.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I think the format looks real good and it works better. Did you notice though, that you posted the same information twice? Right after Zulu Dawn. Thanx for all of your work on this, Chris

Although I appreciate greatly all the work you've done for this list, I personally like the old way of looking at the list easier. I can't really explain why, it just looked cleaner to me.

Like I said, you made the list so it's only your right to make changes to it.

iamjohnsusername 09-08-03 11:15 AM

HIGH ROAD TO CHINA is the greatest adventure movie ever made.

It should be released on DVD now!

Oops, thanks for pointing that out! I must have accidentally hit paste twice. (I copy and paste this from a separate Excel sheet).

so let's see we have one person who likes the new format, and one who doesn't. I don't really have a preference either way so I'll guess I'll see what others have to say before I decide what would be the best format. Maybe on the next thread I can make one post by title and the second post sorted by date?

Best of both worlds.

Personally I like having the titles that have release dates seperate.
