Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z TV shows... any news?

I'd post this at animeondvd.com... but those people are freaky.

Dragon Ball Z: So what's the deal? Pioneer has released the first two series as box sets (no Japanese original track and no subtitles and horribly chopped... yes, I know that.) And they seem to have released a bunch of the third-series DVDs, but no box set. It seems like they've totally stopped at a very strange point - may have lost the rights...?

So what can we expect? I'm anxious to buy the entire TV series run on DVD, but no one seems to be actively working on releasing it.

Dragon Ball: This seems totally off everyone's radar - is anyone working on it?

Pioneer owned the rights to the first 2 sagas (Saiyan and Freiza) and the first 3 movies. Funimation ended up buying the rest of the series (Dragonball, Dragonball Z from Freiza on and Dragonball GT) and have been bringing out cut and uncut versions of them for a while now. The 4th and 5th movie are expected before the end of the year.

I am not sure if Funimation bought out the sections Pioneer owns or not and I don't exactly like Funimation. I will pick up the movies, but the series DVDs can pretty much rot for the amount of episodes they give you in a release.

David, I know you're insane, but... are you insane?

There's going to be, like, 100 discs when they're all done for Dragonball Z, just by itself.

If you want Dragon Ball or Dragonball Z stuff, I would stick with the more entertaining movies and call it good.

"153 Dragonball episodes, 291 Dragonball Z episodes, and 64 GT episodes." That's, er, 508 eps total. At 3 eps per disc, that's only 170 discs.

I didn't say I'd buy these, y'know, tomorrow. But over time, I intend to beef up my collection.

David, if I ever have another PC vs. Mac argument with you, I'll be sure to end it with, "Oh yeah? Well at least I don't like Dragon Ball Z!"

Is that the best you can do? You need serious help.

(p.s.: someone name the source of this --> "How appropriate. You fight like a cow.")

Yes, they should re-issue the DVD's once this run is done in fewer disks and box set sagas. Piccolo is my favorite

Getting back on topic, did I answer your question or do you need me to dig up more info?

Well just from my buying habits funimation releases about 2-3 discs per month. Two of the TV series and maybe a movie. They are about to release Movie 6 this month I believe. If they decide to redo the discs, that'll be cool with me, just don't add extra stuff thats not on the current release.

Also, some discs actually have 4 episodes on a disc and I have one which has 5 episodes on it

Dragonball/Z/GT all episodes and movies on Sale

Mod edit: I have to say you certainly picked an interesting way to introduce yourself to the forum. Not only are you offering to sell bootlegs (which is strictly forbidden here) but you did it in a thread started by one of the moderators
