Any idea if their release will include the Director's Cut? I can't find any info on that; they apparently haven't released any info on "extras."

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

There's apparently an issue with the theatrical cut of the film, and maybe also the international cut, on the new set:
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Army-o...134101/#Review
there is at least one new anomaly on one of the versions in this set which Shout! has commendably been quick to address. That (admittedly) small glitch occurs at circa 28:00 in the Theatrical Version, where a second or two of footage of Ash jumping over a small stone wall is missing, between Ash tumbling down a hill and a wide shot of him running panicked toward a windmill, leading to a very brief audio sync issue. Shout! has already announced that replacement discs alleviating this issue will be in the pipeline and delivered to consumers in November.
http://smile.amazon.com/review/R3HUP...tore=movies-tv
PLEASE NOTE:SHOUT HAS ANOUNCED THAT THERE IS A SLIGHT GLITCH IN THE THEATRICAL AND INTERNATIONAL CUTS OF THE FILM. THEY ARE REPAIRING THE GLITCH BUT, UNLESS YOU KNOW THE FILM FRAME BY FRAME, IT IS UNLIKELY TO BE IMMEDIATELY NOTICEABLE. NEVERTHELESS, THEY HAVE ANNOUNCED THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF A REPLACEMENT PROGRAM-MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW. THANKS TO REVIEWER DARK MATTERS FOR HIGHLIGHTING THIS INFO.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

Dang man, that's cool.

So I'm still wondering if there's any other Evil Dead 2 discs I need to get. I have the Lionsgate 25th Anniversary Blu-ray edition. Are there any other DVDs or Blus that have any extras or anything not on that Blu.

Thanks, but unless there's some must-have extras, I'll stick with what I have.

So why is it the Evil Dead films constantly get reissued but other movies will struggle to see the light of day?

Because xage will keep buying them....

Seriously though, every release has an extra or two more that we seemingly can't live without so we keep on buying new versions. And they've already got the rights to release them so its more of a cash cow than having to pay for the rights to release something else I guess.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

Question for anyone who still has their Evil Dead 2 Book of the Dead edition DVD (the foam thing from, oh my, 12 years (!!) ago)...
I remember reading years ago - on this forum or another, about how best to care for it. Someone mentioned spraying it with something every month or so, and I laughed that off.
Well, many years later, I looked at mine again recently and some parts are starting to harden and turning brittle. I wouldn’t care so much, but I actually used this thing at my wedding (on Halloween) 4 years ago. I wrote the speech for the officiant and taped it to the pages inside. So I’d like to keep it as long as possible. Has anyone else seen theirs become hard and brittle, and does anyone have any tips to stop it from disentegrating (or at least slow it down)?

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

You know, if they actually collected all of the special features for the first film, I'd consider getting it. But there's still features exclusive to the Book of the Dead and Ultimate Edition DVDs.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

That really is a neat looking box, despite the absence of AOD. I wonder if they'd do the thing where they leave a couple of empty spaces to put in your own.

But I've spent a good amount of time putting together my personal Blu and DVD collection of all this so I'm passing. All I'd really like is a slipcover version of The Evil Dead remake with both cuts. Was that even made?

This set is great for someone who doesn't already own the existing versions... if such a person exists.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

If I didn't I buy the Evil Dead 1 & 2 Steelbook (4K) from Best Buy last, year, I would have probably bought that set.

I still don't own Ash Vs Evil Dead Seasons 2 & 3. Been trying to find those on the cheap or used locally.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

The rights issues with Army of Darkness are complicated, which is why that movie was never referenced in the Ash vs the Evil Dead series, and there has never been an "Evil Dead Trilogy" release -- at least in NA -- with all three movies. (I don't think it the trilogy has gotten a US release, even back when Anchor Bay had the rights to all three films.)

Even though I bought the first season, I ended up buying the complete series because it seemed to be cheaper to do that then buy seasons 2 and 3 separately.

That's what I noticed as well.

If I could grab that Complete Series for less than $25, I'd be happy.
