Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

Are there two different upc code's on the Blockbuster Ed of evil dead?? I have a programe to keep track of all my dvd's and the Blockbuster Ed they have listed has a different upc code then mine.
My UPC code is 013131-219098 and the other UPC code for the other copy is 013131-239096.
And in this forum are maybe it was another forum the image on the disc was discussed One person had ash with blue face and another had a red faced ash, I bought two from two different BlockBuster store that were clear across town about 20 to 30 Mile's away and the art work on mine was different yet. But both of mine do have the same artwork on them so I don't think that someone put them in the wrong case, mine has the art work from the 4th disc in the jewl case set with the DV10667-I on the side.

Hey Xage how about a master pic update?

Also did you collect The Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

Where'd you get the slipcovered ED2? I never saw that.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

Might as well ask here, is there a region 1 release of the longer cut of Army of Darkness yet? The one that more resembles the one I first saw on the SciFi channel so many years ago.

thanks

EDIT: I do have the 2 disc Anchor Bay LE, but neither cut is close to it.

thanks

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

There are several DVD editions released by Anchor Bay that have long been OOP but can easily be found on the 3rd party route. Be warned, the prints suck on these DVDs. I don't think Universal has much interest in releasing it. In the UK, their BD includes a PAL DVD with the director's cut. I think the best idea would be if Universal licensed the director's cut to Scream Factory so they could release it. The only company in the world, which im aware of, whom has a nice print of the director's cut is MGM. They own the film in Asia and released an incredible, more complete version than even the director's cut in a region 3 DVD. If you have a region free player, i highly suggest seeking this one out. I don't know if Universal has access to this print or if they even care to revisit the movie.

The longest cut released on DVD or BD so far has been the Original Director's Cut, released in low quality in R1 by Anchor Bay, and in a restored quality (with an additional clip) in R3 by MGM.

The SciFi Channel cut included the initial Ash vs. Arthur confrontation, and the "Ash goes looking for his horse" sequence. These appear as low-quality deleted scenes on the Director's Cut DVD.

While no official release of any longer cut has been made, there are fan-edits that re-incorporate the SciFi Channel footage into the film:

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

Just ordered both of these today.

Army of Darkness french blu-ray. All 3 cuts in HD:
http://www.amazon.fr/Evil-Dead-Larm%...rkness+blu+ray

Army of Darkness: Ultimate Edition. 2 blu-ray + 4 DVDs. All 3 cuts plus tv cut & bonuses:
http://www.amazon.de/Die-Armee-Finst...kness+ultimate

There is info, technical details & screen grabs floating around the internet. Seems very much worth the money.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

I have a theory that Shout Factory has Army of Darkness and Darkman in the works. Well, that's pretty much* the extent of said theory, but we'll have to wait and see if I'm right.

*well there's a little more to it. I can't imagine that Crimewave is the only Raimi title Shout Factory is interested in, especially not with all the Universal stuff they're licensing. Secondly, if Red Shirt is doing the extras for Crimewave (which is a pretty good likelihood) then it's also likely they're interviewing people for Cw, AoD and Dm all at once like they did for Evil Dead 2, Intruder and Thou Shalt Not Kill... Except. Third, these practically-simultaneous French and German releases are the result of the various foreign rights holders working together to release a comprehensive collection of cuts and it wouldn't surprise me if a similar US release wasn't part of those deals.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

Funny that, I didn't even put those ideas together but I've been enjoying the Gamera dvds from Shout! and following the horror bluray thread, and the thought crossed my mind along the lines of "boy, I bet they could do a real number on AoD if they put their minds to it."

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

Seeing how it took several foreign distributors coming together to make those releases, I wouldn't expect this to hit the US any time soon.

But if it does come out here, I'd buy that too, of course.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

New German Evil Dead 2 release adds a total of 2.5 minutes of extended footage (in SD). Also available in a special wooden case limited release (1,000 units):
http://www.movie-censorship.com/news_en.php?ID=5829
I suspect the new footage originates from the Mexican tv cuts.
A bit pricey - the limited release comes out to $85.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

I'm looking for the 1999 version of Evil Dead. The letter D artwork of the woman reaching up from the ground. Thought I had one and it fell through. I have the other four and it's driving me nuts I can't get the fifth one. Any leads appreciated. Thank you.

From the Book of Xage:

There is basically a degree of rarity among the 5 (Super Jewel) Evil Dead DVDs.

All 5.. carries its own distinct Spine Letter. After the spine number DV10667- which interestingly spells:

D-E-V-I-L

Spine View

Cover Art View

D = The rarest and most difficult among the 5 releases
E = The Most Common among the 5 releases
V, I, L = A little bit hard to get as it has lesser quantity compare to E

****Warning-If you are going to buy from the other auction site or amazon, dont be fooled by the stock picture! Make sure to ask the seller first if the art is the same as the stock photo and ask for the spine number as a reference.

Yes the letter D is what I'm searching for. I was hoping the experts here may know how I can find it. Fingers crossed.

You could try asking all the Amazon sellers. Some mention the picture, while others mention the lack of slipcase. Maybe some would tell you which picture is on the disc if you ask:

This site has a pretty definitive compendium of Evil Dead releases up to DVD:

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

Thank you for the info. I just bought four copies on amazon from different sellers that said the cover was missing. Maybe I'll get lucky. I'm going to a convention in March so I'm sure I can unload any copies I don't need so that others can get them autographed.

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)

Okay so I had my set of the 5 artwork versions signed at horrorhound this week. I had each person sign one disc. Ash, Scott, Cheryl, Linda, Shelly, way cool. Now I'm looking for the blockbuster rental edition. I know it's rare but I'm willing to pay good dollars or trade a set of the 5 different artwork versions for it. Let me know if you have one for sale. Thanks in advance.
