DvdActive did a review and comparison of how the Elite full-frame transfer was different from the full-frame transfer on this new Anchor Bay edition:

Thanks Dullboy for the added Fullframe comparison screencaps

Here is the close image of the two Evil Dead Ultimate Edition ( One is a French Canadian Release and the other is the Regular USA release) http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b221/xage00/UE_21.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b221/xage00/UE_22.jpg Though, Im still wondering what happened to the Advertisement design they made (included on the FYE Horrorfest DVD) |

And another suprise! Again, exclusively from Canada's Anchorbay -
Region1 - Anchorbay Horror Legacy Series - Evil Dead 2 A very rare release (especially its slipcover)

Now they just need to release AOD in the same style packaging. :)

So, If I get the Ultimate Edition, would there be any reason to keep my old Elite dvd? I've been trying to find a comparison of the extras but outside the commentaries I am unsure.

The only thing not explicitly included from the Elite version is 'Behind The Scenes Footage & Outtakes', but I believe everything in there is included in 'The Evil Dead: Treasures From The Cutting Room Floor' Besides that, the main thing the Ultimate Edition doesn't have is the Fanalysis, but that's not on the Elite DVD, it's on the BOTD release. |

Some Interesting "Collectibility" & "Hunting" Facts about the 1999 Anchorbay Evil Dead (Super Jewel Case) Version .. Though Im still gathering more information
There is basically a degree of rarity among the 5 (Super Jewel) Evil Dead DVDs. All 5.. carries its own distinct Spine Letter. After the spine number DV10667- which interestingly spells: D-E-V-I-L Spine View http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...00/CASINGb.jpg Cover Art View http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...0/CASING_b.jpg D = The rarest and most difficult among the 5 releases E = The Most Common among the 5 releases V, I, L = A little bit hard to get as it has lesser quantity compare to E ****Warning-If you are going to buy from the other auction site or amazon, dont be fooled by the stock picture! Make sure to ask the seller first if the art is the same as the stock photo and ask for the spine number as a reference. |
Is there any the picture quality or colors difference between the anchorbay 1999 release of Evil dead BOD and the anchorbay's other releases..of same movie??? (as the difference is seen in Elite and AB editions in two pictures above)
I don't see any difference between last two releases from AB but i want to know about the AB 1999 release. Thanks |

I can't understand why do many people like the Anchor bay transfer, whereas technically the AB release is extremely dark - there are so many things which are not clearly seen in many scenes in the AB release and when u compare it with the Elite edition the whole movie looks very neat and clean and sharper than AB..
one of the example image I want to share with u all Anchorbay fans.. see for yourself and decide why do u prefer AB?? just because it is the newer version? or has it really good quality? <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/asimzb/2902393720/" title="comparision by Asim Bijarani, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3015/2902393720_ebf4ffbc45_b.jpg" width="1024" height="381" alt="comparision" /></a> |

Re: One/Only Evil Dead Series Versions thread (merged in effect thread)
And it sounds like it would be highly unlikely for an Evil Dead Trilogy to comeout in R1 or North American Region Format. As Universal still holds the home video release license for Army Of Darkness.
