The Un-Official Blu-Ray Slipcover thread
I looked around and did not see similar thread, except for the one for DVD's only.
Same deal as with that thread, I am posting a list of Blu-Ray movies that are released with a slipcover, or any other kind of special cover that is not the simple plastic keepcase. If you find one, see one, or have one - please post the title and I will update the list. |

Re: The Official Blu-Ray Slipcover thread
There's a list more comprehensive than this one will ever be over at Blu-ray.com's forums. Has pretty much every Region A slipcover ever listed, with pictures, as well as slipcovers from other countries.

does that mean I am pwnd or is this an epic fail? |
Re: The Official Blu-Ray Slipcover thread
If people actually only buy movies with slip covers, they are not movie fans, they are collectors.

Re: The Official Blu-Ray Slipcover thread
I know this will contradict something I stated in another thread, but things have changed for me since those posts.
I no longer save any slipcovers that feature the same art & information as the cover underneath. Now, if they're different, or have something incredibly unique about them, I'll save them. But, other than that? Right into the bin with 'em. |

At the very least I should have all major feature BRs listed eventually. I doubt I'll be listing all the "Over" movies, like Over Peoria, and Over Liverpool, and Over Buttfukk Egypt lol |

First off, they are missing some movies.... (not updated? or the poster is not from the US and gets different info) and secondly, there are movies listed that NEVER had a slipcover. I saw Slumdog Millionaire on the shelves the day it was released - at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Fry's Electronics, and Suncoast... NO slipcover. Two years later, the movie is still not available with a slipcover. And thats just one example.... I saw many on that list that were false. |

I don't know if that's what you looked at, but that list is about as complete as any list will ever get. What movies do you think are missing? The only Slumdog slipcover I see listed on there is under the UK slipcovers section, and is marked as so. |

I guess the caveat for my list is that I am dealing with US releases only, those are the only ones I can attest for in regards to the packaging. |
Re: The Official Blu-Ray Slipcover thread
Facepalm.
The post in that thread you happened to look at was the UK slipcover list. The first post is U.S. slipcovers. They're all there. And the Brits as well as many other countries have slipcovers for movies that we never got in the U.S., and it's a pretty common practice. |

I guess I didnt notice the diff between UK and US on that posting. But my question remains, why would companies issue slipcovers for some countries, but not for the US? that irks me! |
Re: The Official Blu-Ray Slipcover thread
My first thought was of that ridiculously long thread over on blu-ray dot com... Could care less about a slip... They annoy me to be honest. So, I usually toss them in my "extra crap" box. I don't trash em' but they stay in that box in the closet. DVDs on the other hand, unless there was something unique about the slip, trash bin. edit - oh yeah, Apocalypse Now (two disc) has one. But, the unforgivable sin with that release is the G-Damn eco case. THOSE always go in the trash... idgits. Another topic for another thread though. You also missed Fight Club... Completely useless slip with the velcro folding cover nonsense. |

Re: The Official Blu-Ray Slipcover thread
Someone tried to start one but I guess not that many here were interested:
The Definitive Blu-Rays with Slipcases/Slipcovers Thread Obviously there is some interest elsewhere though, just look through the 32,000 posts about them on that other forum. I like them but not that much, definitely not as much as the one guy over there willing to pay $50 for a slipcover of a blu-ray about... rocks. Spoiler:

People ask "But, what about the re-sale value?" Firstly, re-sale values are shit, and seldom (if ever) does a slipcover make even 25 cents worth of difference in value. Secondly, I now buy only what I want to keep (I never blind buy, unless it's subject matter I'm a fan of, and I am certain I'll enjoy at least enough to keep). A good example of subject matter that will make me blind buy? Godzilla movies. I collect them. |

what on earth? $50 for a slipcover for a damn nature movie???? thats just nuts.... well the nuttiest thing I ever did for a slipcover - I already had the movie, no cover. then saw it at a store with a cover. Bought it, took the cover off in my car and then returned the disc for a refund. Or even nuttier, I have put the slipcover for a movie I already had, on antoher movie I wanted but that didnt come with a cover, and as long as the opening on the cover fully revealed the bar code, the cashier had no clue when she rung up the movie that the cover for it was for something else. Pretty sly if I say so myself.... So I was talking to a movie freak who works at Best Buy. And they confirmed my suspicions - the employees go hog wild with the new releases and keeping the slipcovers. Thats why I'll go to the store, see a movie that was released with covers a few weeks ago, and now not a single copy has a cover left on it. why? cuz the employees took them all home. |
Re: The Official Blu-Ray Slipcover thread
Just added The Bridge on the River Kwai....
not a keepcase, but a VERY NICE box set!! looks gorgeous, and of course the movie is an all-time classic. |
Re: The Official Blu-Ray Slipcover thread
Did Ponyo have a slipcover?

Re: The Official Blu-Ray Slipcover thread
come on people, lets get this list going. If you know of a BR with a slipcover, please post and I will add to the list.
I added Macgruber earlier, but now I think its an error. The DVD has a slipcover, but I cannot seem to find any BRs that do. anyone? |
