I talked to a Manager from Blockbuster and he informs me they will be arriving on Thursday's shipment in San Antonio, TX. He said he has cups and hats available, but not the DVD case. I'm ok with since I won't have any money til Friday, anyway.

I see bunches of these in my local store. After opening and checking it out, this thing is worth $20. It feels and look pretty cheap in person. This thing is no way should be price at $49.99.

Called my local store today. First they thought I was talking about the new DVD releases. Then, they thought I was talking about new film. I explained to them this thing had no movies in it. That seemed to confound them. Looks like this may be a YMMV sort of situation. They informed me that theirs was a small store. Honestly, every BB I've ever been in seemed small. I'm in TN BTW, I can't really tell where you other guys are from.
Edit: I work in Nashville and stopped by a BB there before work and again found nothing. Nuts!

after reading this thread a few hours ago I went to my local BB and they had the hats and cups, but no case. I aksed about it and she had no clue. i went to the other BB on the other side of town(which is about 4 times bigger) and they had 5 of them. I asked if they'd open it for me to check out and they did. I walked out with it. It is very nice indeed...not sure if it should be $50, but close to it. I have no plan of using it to house my IJ DVDs, it looks nice on it's own. I'm glad I purchased it.

I talked to the Manager from BB this afternoon who said he should be receiving the DVD case today, he found out that it's going to be a rare item. Only some of the BB got the Case. His store did not receive and won't. So, he got one transfered for me from another BB in town. Pretty nice guy. I will be picking it up tomorrow or Saturday.

Fail in what sense? Space? Security of the DVDs? Weight? Design? or simply $50 is to expensive for your pocket to disperse?

I spoke with Blockbuster Corporate Marketing, and there were 50,000 made and imported from China.
Most Blockbuster stores (mainly Blockbuster franchisee and NOT Blockbuster Corporate stores) doesnt stocked this one . But can be ordered, just request from the store's manager and normally takes 1-2 weeks at no extra cost and still at base $49.99 .
Most corporate Blockbuster stores stocked up to 12 pieces.

I picked up this piece at the Old Tappan, NJ BB. It's absolutely stunning. This is easily the best display case I've seen for DVDs. The hat and whip are separate pieces that attach to the suitcase. The whole sculpture has a beautifully distressed look to it.
The case holds only 4 DVDs, so you're SOL if you want to add INDY 4 to the 4-discs from the original box. Personally, I don't care because I'm not even going to put my discs in there. I'll just keep them in the original box. Together they make an awesome display. When INDY 4 comes out, I’ll just add it to the mix.
I can’t see 50,000 of these babies moving at that price (although I think it’s worth every penny), so you may want to wait for a price drop, but this is a must-have for hard-core Indy fans and those of us who look for interesting additions to our DVD displays.

I think this will go down to 20 or 25 bucks once INDY4 fever dies down. I would have waited awhile, but I've had Blockbuster Gift Cards burning a hole in my wallet since Xmas, since I never rent DVDs. I couldn't resist picking one up now.
Generally, people go into Blockbuster to rent, not buy, and $50 is quite steep. This product would have sold much better as a Best Buy exclusive or at some other DVD retailer. I didn't even know it existed until I stumbled across this thread, and none of my friends knew about it either. I'll use the balance of my gift cards to pick up a couple for Xmas presents when the price falls.

I just picked this up at a Blockbuster in Boston, MA yesterday. I thought the $50 price tag was a bit high, but after opening the set in the store, I just couldn't resist. This is one sweet looking DVD case. They had 3 or 4 more in stock. I called about 5 Blockbusters and this was the only one carrying them.
