Stickers On Cases

I'm sure someone has posted about this before, but I want to discuss it and offer some of my tips that I have found helpful.

First of all, I hate stores (like Best Buy and Wal-Mart) that stick price stickers on the slipcovers of new release DVDs. I remove all the stickers off my DVDs (even the ones the issuing company puts on), because I don't like them, they wear over time, and I frankly don't plan on reselling them, so don't see much of a purpose to keeping the stickers on.

But anyway, I've found that when you try and remove some of the price stickers (and even security strips) they leave a sticky residue or some paper remnants. This always bothered me, and I have found that Goo-Gone works wonders. I dab it on a paper towel or wash cloth, then gently wipe it and it takes the adhesive or paper right off, without damaging the surface or colour. But do not use a lot, as it could potentially cause problems to the slipcover. A little bit TRULY goes a long way with Goo-Gone.

If you want pristine slipcovers, I recommend Target. They have the best that I have been able to find, especially when they first come out. They don't put annoying stickers on them and seem to take decent care of their products, at least the ones in my area.

Yeah I hate those things too! FREAKIN' ANNOYING and messes up the case! I have used Lighter Fluid before and it works too but again with that you have to be very carefull!

The trick with the stickers on the top and bottom, I've found, is to peel off a small piece in the corner and quickly rip it off as fast as you can. This way, the sticky substance is less likely to leave residue. Of course, if the paper insert is on the sticker, it will rip, but you have to check in the store to make sure the paper is aligned correctly. Fox Home Video is especially notorious for their sticky residue, their dvds always leave a bit!
