Help,
I am new to doing custom DVD covers, and for my first one I decided to use "Lords of Dogtown." Well I am having a lot of trouble getting the size and everything right. I dont have a scanner and I followed a tutorial where he told me the size and then to use a 200 resolution. So I used that and made my cover, is there any way to crop that down to the right size? Cause when I looked at it, it came out way to big...
Sorry for such stupid questions but I just need a detailed order of how to make it fit... Here is an example, my bros WIP, he used the same tutorial and we are both lost... Link |
First which program are you using?
You should always make your covers 300dpi Front should be 1535X2175 Back should be 1535X2175 Spine should be 170X2175 when all put together it should equal 3240X2175 |
Yeah, what program are you using? Most image editing programs have both a cropping tool and a resize feature. And Buddy's absolutely right: 300 dpi is the norm for a decent cover.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS2, I was unsure though about how to resize them...how far down to resize them,
I will try to make a new one following the same dimensions, then come back tomorrow and maybe you guys can help me resize it... |
If you want, I can send you some blank cover templates that you can cut and paste into. That will take the guesswork out of resizing them.

What about slim cases BuddyRevell, do you know the sizes for those?
Thanks |
3150 x 2175. Spine should be 80 pixels.
I believe Joliom has a plethora of templates for this. |
Great thanks BuddyRevell. Joliom, if you have templates for slim dvd cases it would be greatly appreciated if you could e-mail them to me.
