CD wallet inserts... cross-hatched design

I have been using a 200-capacity CaseLogic CD wallet for DVD-R storage and since I have become more aware about my DVD care I couldnt help notice the cross-hatched, diamond design of the DVD inserts, like shown in this image:

Some questions:

1) I would think that discs are supposed to avoid abrasive surfaces like these. Does this surface scratch my DVD-R's (even if they're so small I cant see them)?

2) Why can't they just make the surface completely flat (like a DVD case)? Is this way somehow superior?

3) Are CaseLogic typically a consistent, dependable brand? Do they know what they're doing (how to treat DVD's)?

4) It is advertised as a "CD wallet," so does this mean its good for DVD's too?

Newb questions, yes, but thankyou

Anyone please?

What I am mostly wondering is the diamond, cross-hatched CD insert surface design itself harmful to the DVD's?

Or does CaseLogic know how to properly design an insert so they dont scratch the DVD?

(Why can't they just make the insert surface COMPLETELY FLAT?)

Aren't CD wallets technically OK as long as the user is careful (i.e. not letting CD's rub across jagged zipper, or accidentally carrying upside down and all CD's fall out)??
