yep, same book as the original 2 disc set.

the insert for the Platoon Steelbook is a little long due to the inside plastic liner of the case.

I've got the following in Steelbook
Ong Bak
Boondock Saints
X-Men 1.5
X2

I love this packaging, really makes it feels like a collector's item.

Nearly all the steelbooks I have seen I already have the shitty standard version of. Makes me want to go out and rebuy them, but I probably won't. X1; X2; The Departed; Die Hard; Fight Club... I WANT!!!

It's definitely region one. It's plugged in an ad for recent steelbooks (Die Hard, Cast Away, Platoon, etc.).

I recently saw the Lord of War steelbook and my mouth dropped. I'm still thinking about buying it even though I would just throw the DVDs away and replace them with the region 1s. It's one of my favorite movies of this decade.

i'm guessing sales of the existing steelbooks they have out might determine this? anyone know if the steelbook re-releases pushed those titles up higher on the sales charts?

Are all the ones shown here actually available? I've never seen several of them that I would want, specifically X3 (which usually doesn't even come with 2 discs) and Spider-man2

The X-Men set is actually the trilogy set, it's a foreign set with 3 single discs of all the movies. There was a region 1 x3 steelbook but the disc was identical to the standard release, and it is very rare as it was only released at Canadian Future Shop stores. I've been searching for one for several months and have had no luck, there's one being sold on Amazon for $250, but that's WAAAAAY out of my price range.

Hey All, I have to ask this question. Since Steelbook dvds are slowly starting to consume my collecting addiction I was wondering do other members here buy Steelbooks outside of region 1 and replace the disks with region 1 disks? Does anyone think I should just leave the region 2, 3 etc disks in the steelbook and just live with it? Opinions appreciated....

i have yet to purchase a steelbook that is non-r1, partially because i don't like some of them with different language writing. in the case of something like 300, where the steelbook just says "300" and nothing else, i would get that, but i WOULD replace them with the r1 discs. again, just because i have everything r1 and have never gotten a region-free dvd player.

i've actually never bought a dvd from another region, so my opinion is probably not the best to go with. but like i mentioned above, i do like uniformity, which is why if i DID choose to get non-r1 steelbooks, i'd opt to go with ones with only english or no writing at all.

I have many steelbooks, some R1 but mostly R2. I'll keep the R2 discs intact because for some R2 release, there maybe some differences in contents which I can't tell due to the German or Spanish text on the back. Besides I want the whole thing to be authentic and original.

Did FutureShop have a steelbook for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest? I don't remember because I opted to go for the bonus disc at Best Buy when it was released..

Canada Russia '72 hockey documentary has a steelbook case..
