... into the slipcase???? The card board slips inside are obstructing the pack in.

I think those with the old boxsets will know what i mean....

yes i know what you mean as i have the same problem also. i tried inserting it in very slowly and i also tried putting it in upside down - meaning i tried changing which part of the digipack went in first; the top or the bottom. eventually i always manage to get it in without any damage.
