Empty boxsets

Other than stumbling across one on ebay, are there typically ways to find/purchase empty boxes from dvd boxsets? For example, I'd like to get the box for the new Coen Bros. Collection, but don't need to buy the set because I've already got the movies. I know they offered the huge LOTR box for $3 at least at one point, but don't know if stuff like that is typically available or if that was a rare occurance...

Any suggestions? Thanks!

bumping this, because I am looking for the James Dean Collection box as i have the individual titles as well, is ebay my only hope?
